The difference between corporate vice "Mom & Pop" owners, perhaps. I can imagine one following marketing data and business models where the other treats it as an expensive vanity project/equity.
Look at it this way. And they thought they were going to make the playoffs; this is a completely accidental rebuild. How is it even possible to be accidentally this bad when everything gravitates to the middle? These guys are not only the worst managers in the league by a country mile, they're the worst in the history of this sorry franchise. In the beginning of the season many thought they could make the playoffs. Assumption was a healthy Demko and the D could make up for sub par forwards. Counting on a healthy Demko and signing him for three more years is mind-numbing stupidity on their part. Have they not been following the team for the past four years or so?
