You guys and your irrational hatred for Stenberg would be a fascinating study for psych students. He's a solid pick just like McKenna but just like McKenna he isn't projecting as a franchise level piece.
I really like the potential in Verhoeff as well but there's no indication yet that he's one either. Some of these media wankers have him as the 3rd best damn ffs.
The consensus is there is about 6 decent picks and nobody knows any more than anyone else regarding who will be the best of the bag
If I was picking 1 OA I think I take the Canadian simply because of his showing some jam in trying college in his draft year and also for starting shit over his mom. Yes at least showing passion and commitment.
As for Stenberg, he's probably the better winger right now but he hasn't shown that extra oomph yet imho
Nobody wants another damned Swede Strawbs. Jeezus.

I view Stenberg as the ‘safer’ pick while McKenna seems to have a swagger and X factor that I like. I just hope Canucks don’t fall to 3rd and can land one of those two wingers.

I think one of those two wingers will end up being there at number three.
Many teams will choose one of the defensemen - Reid, Carels or Verhoeff - over a winger at number two based on positional value (and maybe BPA).
I won’t be surprised if Vancouver is the only team that would actually take Stenberg with the second pick?
The more I learn about Carels, the more I like him as the top defensemen in the draft.
If Calgary gets the second pick, I won’t be surprised to see them take a flyer on Malhotra to fill their biggest positional need.
Centres always move up on draft day.
I won’t be upset when the Canucks lose the lottery. That’s expected.
They’ll still get a great piece for the rebuild if they draft the best player available (and if they’re right).
I’m more concerned with their ability to be right.

I still can't get over that it appears the architects of this disaster will be trusted to draft and develop their way out of the mess they created. That right there says it all

yup, everything they've handled since they've got here has pretty much turned to shit.
Why should this draft be any different?
Don't understand ownerships strategy on keeping them around.

This management group answers to one of the least liked names in Vancouver business. A certain amount of dysfunction is assumed.
I think they have hit as much as they missed.
While directionally it was wrong to put off the rebuild, they put together a good team (that they could not afford to keep) out of a (wrong) OEL buyout two years ago, ultimately succumbing because Demko’s body fell apart and Silovs couldn’t stop the long range snipes.
The salary cap manipulations have also impressed.
Trying to keep QH was widely defended at the time and that led to some now regrettable contract extensions and coaching choices.
Behind the scenes — we still don’t have enough info imo to say that picking EP40 over Miller was wrong. EP40 saying he had tendinitis and this being denied by management reflects poorly on team medical (also called out by QH) but I doubt Rutherford was the one who insisted on having a chiropractor as head of department.
My point isn’t that everything or anything is fine but more that when we talk about ownership’s strategy, the error is in them interfering and making decisions according to their own needs and (lack of) values extrinsic to the team

This is the closest I've ever seen Megs get mad... at least hella annoyed.
Mug of Ovaltine, soothe that savage beast inside with some malty goodness.

Maybe we need to delete Sweden's number and focus on ourselves for a while.

You know if we do land the 1st overall we will know weeks in advance who we are picking. Rutherford will not be able to continue himself and his cryptic not so cryptic comments.

I am hoping for some machinations that result in multiple good young players.
Something fun like Ruck twins AND Viggo AND high scoring D, with Jake DeBrusk peddled off also
