I'll say it again for fear of beating a dead horse.
Injury prone goalies to 8.5 million per with NMC's on top of extending a career based average NHL tendy to a 4.5 per, also with a NMC to start and then a MNMC at the back end.
It's lunacy...

Tolopilo is another goalie we probably shouldn’t lose, but probably will because of signing Lankinen to a NMC contract.
Lankinen is a good goalie, but not great, and you need great in this league. Giving a NMC to a good goalie is a mistake.
He should be traded this season for picks and prospects, but management overpaid and tied their own hands.
Wankin'n has been shit this year. Fuck if he gets on a heater I'd approach and see if he wants a ticket out.
At the time of the extension UW was pretty hard on the signing and I disagreed but I'll definitely eat crow on that position now.

You should wait a bit and let it be held in custody until all conditions are met... 'cause we all know you love eating ASScrow.
Damn, I'm good.

They shouldn't extend injury prone goalies either when there's another year left on their existing contract, but hey, that's how JR & PA roll.
With Demko already injured again and Patera looking not good Tolopilo is just what the Canucks need.
They were appealing to Hughes by signing the ‘core’ of Brock, Garland and Demko. They are all buddies, and they were playing the ‘keep Hughes happy’ game.

If Quinn wants to stick it out and watch a new core emerge then by all means I offer him what he wants but i just can't see that happening. He wants to be a winner. He's in his prime and there's a better opportunity in Jersey with Jack and Luke waiting for him to arrive.

Chances are It'll be a longer rebuid/retool-on-the-fly if they don't get the assetts from a QH trade.
It really doesn't make sense for him to continue in Van. He wants to win. Wants to play with his bro's. Van needs the assets to move forward.
We'll probably never see a Defenseman like him in Van again (in our lifetime) and it'll suck trying to replace your #1 D-man but I don't see any way around it.

Would it be out of character for him if he did extend in Vancouver? To an extent this is a bit of a devil’s advocate question, but it is worth asking when it comes to “will he or won’t he?”. Quinn wants to win but he’s appears an earnest type who may well feel responsible as captain to see this through.
New Jersey is also far from a sure bet. Absent a scenario where all three brothers take deals well below market value, it will be hard for New Jersey to fit them all AND build a supporting cast out of what’s left after the trade.
Lightning doesn’t often strike twice, and the injury/drama factors on both this season and last reveals the fragility of this roster. Unless everything goes right with this team, then nothing goes right. That doesn’t mean they are hopeless. If management gets it right, there’s nothing saying they can’t get the team back in contention without an utter Hughes-jettisoning rebuild. Tampa between 2007-10 could serve as an inspiration. It does help getting the first overall pick the one year, and the second overall the next.

We might if we draft Verhoeff.

Verhoeff is more in that Shea Webber mould but wouldn’t complain

Chef, is Owen Power overrated, not as good as projected or yet another victim of the Buffalo organization?
When is Dahlin just going to give up on this team?
theman, Verhoeff is a big RHD.

Power is pretty much in Lafrenierre and Byfield territory.

Yes...I didn't mean they were the same style of player but rather both dominant #1 D.
As I said at this here GDHTMB earlier this kid could play at Pronger size by the time he's done growing.
It is possible he is > than Hughes when all is said and done.

I can see Dahlin and Thompson telling Buffalo to f-r-o sooner than later.
