The Nashville Predators have re-signed forward Viktor Arvidsson to a seven-year contract worth $29.75 million.


Arvidsson was headed for arbitration after a breakout 2016-17 season, in which the Swede posted 31 goals and 60 points in 80 games.

The 24-year-old added three goals and 10 assists in 22 playoff games.

Nashville selected the winger in the fourth round, 112th overall, of the 2014 NHL Draft.

Works out to 4.25 per, for Skyo.

Other than the term - Nah, Arvy is 5'9 buck80, he's a small skilled winger, he got lucky to play with Johansen and Forsberg as his uber all-star linemates.

Horvat brings more intangibles than Arvy, think between a Jonathan Drouin (6 years $5.5m aav), Gabriel Landeskog (7 years $5.57m aav) to the higher spectrum Aleksander Barkov (6 years $5.9aav money, Bo shouldn't get that Barkov cash though.

I'd say the Landeskog contract suits Bo Horvat best, both bigger, stronger/skilled players that are leaders, two-way types that are good for 50-60 points per year.

So I say a 7-year $5.53m aav is the sweet spot for a one Bo Horvat.

If we're going to use Star War metaphors, I don't see how 17-18 can be labeled "A New Hope". Is Elias Peterson or Brock Boeser supposed to be the successor to arguably the greatest talent in NHL history? Does one of them wield an uncommon skill set, which, with training, will equip him to challenge say Gretzky or Lemieux or even McDavid?

I'd say the current version of the Canucks are more like Ewoks than Jedi-in-training.
