Actually Matthews is paid much more than McDave when you think about it.

Players at that age are offered more money on longer-term contracts

... cuz UFA years.

Matthews' $11.6M x 5 means he would theoretically get $14~$14.5M x 8.

As you know, McDee got only $12.5M x 8.

I keep saying that Tavares, Matthews, Nylander, and soon Marner... are overpaid by $2M each.

I'm not kidding or exaggerating when I say that.

Wet Fart Kerfoot, Johnsson, and/or Kapanen... might be overpaid by $1M+... too soon to say.

They are getting good bang for the buck on Muzzin and Barrie, but that's only for this season.

And they gave up a lot of assets for dat dere.

Long term dey's be's fuct y'all...

I’d explain to the media that Dumbass had ruined the team’s salary structure and it would be fixed. It’s not about being cheap, it’s about trying to pay players what they have earned, and it’s about having enough cap space left to ice a competitive team that has decent depth. The team will still spend to the cap but distribute the cap money more intelligently. The second thing would be to give a final offer to Marner at 7 x 8.5m and let him sit until it was signed. If he did sit out the year, it would help to educate the players and agents that there is a reason that they use the word “restricted” when they discuss RFAs. For the long term competitiveness of the club, it’s better to be reasonably hard-nosed with RFAs.
They have that already. His name is Morgan Rielly.

YOUR team in the midst of a rebuild traded a 1st rounder (Unprotected) for a 3rd liner making 5.25 million per and gave an at-best #4 D 6 million per.

What a disaster.

This is the "All Thing Leaves" thread, why do you always try to change the subject when you're Cornered? :mex:

Lets touch back on Marleau while were talking about returns on 1st rounders shall we

Not to mention Miller is a top 6 winger, not a 3rd line. Thats almost like saying 7 million williom is worthy of his contract where he returns a goal a mill

Love that not only did burkie come on and bet the interviewers arizona austin bolts first chance he gets, but that they wouldnt take that bet

Dumbass!

Looks like everyone forgot to point out that lie.

And let's take this opportunity to remind tuna that his team, after a decade-long rebuild, had to lottery-protect their 1st that they gave away to get rid of Marleau.

In all seriousness, the leaves should trade Matthews a year or two before his contract ends. He won’t resign, he, like Tavares, will want to be in charge of his destination and we all know how home sick Matthews is. Even if it’s not Arizona, it will be one of the California teams

In another reality, Matthews could change his mind about the Southwest. Maybe if more of a team attitude prevailed among the players and the
organization. It's become a side-show. Look! Look! Look what we pay our guys.
No disrespect intended, but Babcock is becoming outdated. Not the worst but I don't see him getting the leaves to any cup.
No clue what will happen with your Marner but to be mercilessly honest, the precedent set with Nylander and how he man handled
your management was a degradation to the entire system. In other words, it's freakin busted now and everyone thinks they're worth
30% more than they are.

No more analogies or drawing baselines between your team and ours.
The Maple leaves have been doing this, or a close proximity, since Vancouver's first cup-run to the finals.
And in regards to comparisons in the now; Not the same! After our Sedin/Luongo/Kesler/etc, era that took us to within one game
of Lord Stanley's Cup, we've had to completely rebuild our whole team and system. Not saying we haven't made mistakes, that would be
ignorant, but nothing on the grandiose scale made and still being made in Toronto.
Deflating, looking forward, isn't it..
