5 straight losses and McJesus hasn't been walking on water since Kadri spent 60 minutes rag dolling him. Looks like it might be shaping into another loser year in Coilertown
Who me?

Remind me what I was right about this time? :look:

About how Lucic was grossly overrated heading into his big free agent payout

I don't think he's a great skater either. In a second line role with 1st unit PP time in LA he will thrive, but he's not the guy to build a 1st line around.

I thought the Oilers had someone else to build a 1st line around.

the Great Matthews has gone all suckage since 4 goal first game while ole Marner is lighting it up. Marner and Werenski are in the lead for the Calder

I guess the concern is Lucic isnt leaving a trail of bodies like they thought he would. The few games I've watched he hasn't been his usual asshole self.
When Kadri was tossing boy wonder around he had his chances to do something and didn't.

When power forwards like ole Lucic hit their 30's they tend to start sucking. I was pissed he didn't sign here but it's looking like a blessing, but it's still early. I still say the notorious slow starter - Eriksson will prove to be the better signing

Eriksson talked about his difficult starts after a trade. He talked about how difficult he found it moving from Dallas to Boston, to acclimatize to a new city/team. Early injuries hampered him in Boston. He said something about experiencing similar adjustment pains here. he said the first season of the trade a lot of people had written him off and it wasn't really until the second year where he found his groove. Hopefully he won't suffer an injury with us and his adjustment period will come to an end sooner rather than later.

I'm in the camp that only wanted Lucic for 4 million over 3-4 years. Since that wasn't going to happen I was thrilled he picked Edmonton. Eriksson was a foregone conclusion to me. Didn't/don't like to six years. But think he was the better choice for us.

The correct answer would've been none of the above. Eriksson is 31 and will be a senior by the time his deal is up, Lucic is 28 but will have the body of a senior in a couple years. Both guys have been bad. I don't think either fanbase will be happy.

I think both will get better in time, have to remember that their first season for their new clubs just started last month.

Last year people were complaining if we got a new center in time, about whose he going to play with? (as we had a scrap heap of unproven wingers, well now we got a 6'2 two-way proven scorer.

imo it's a good long term investment where Eriksson slowly evolves back into scoring form once he gets comfortable with the new team and structure. Loui is not a bruising winger but a savvy veteran, we'll get him at his last best years 31-35, it's 36-37 Sedin/Hossa twilight-golden age years where he'll be gone.

Brent Burns and SJS agree to an 8 year, 8 million per season, contract extension. Burns is 31 years old. He will be 39 when this deal expires. Wow is all I can say.

He is worth every penny now and for at least the next five years but after that.....I suppose because of the way it's structured the team is protected from cap recapture should he retire early.

Don't know the details of his trade protection yet.

Cap recapture contracts are not allowed anymore.

Burns will get $56M of the $64M total by July 1 2023 (after the $2M signing bonus).

He could retire at that point... or do the Sharks a solid and accept a trade to a cap-floor team.

(only $8M total real-dollars will be left on the contract over the final 2 seasons - $8M-per cap-hit)

Looks like he has to name 3 teams to which he will accept a trade every year.

I'm glad the Leaves didn't get a crack at him as Burns is exactly what they need

... and they'll have an absolute shitload of cap-space next summer.

Leafers have been fixated on Burns ever since Stammer said NO.
