So, in summary, Carolina for a 3rd in 2025, 12G 34P and 11 playoff games gave up.....
......forward Michael Bunting, forward prospects Vasily Ponomarev and Ville Koivunen, the rights to forward Cruz Lucius, a conditional first-round pick in the 2024 NHL Draft, and a conditional fifth-round pick in the 2024 draft.

I’m mixed on this, as Guentzel is a very good player but $9 million + is a lot for him. He’ll most likely be worth it for 4-5 years anyway so I’d probably do it.
That said, I’m not sure TBay is going to be a great team even with him there. They have no defensive depth as Hedman is 33, McDonagh 35 and Cernak is pretty broken already. JJ Moser is decent but a 4/5 guy, and they have nobody else.
Up front they have one really good line and not much else - Cirelli is their 3rd or 4th best forward and he’s a 40-50 point defensive guy. They also have almost nobody coming. If they sign Jake in the $9 million a year range they need to sign 6-7 more guys with $7 million in cap space so will have no depth to work with. Vasilevskiy can make up for lots of mistakes but he was awful last year. Hard to see them being much more than a bubble playoff team even with Guentzel, as that’s what they were last year and they subtracted a lot with Sergachev.

I've been for building out the team with some quality players at reasonable prices instead of chasing a big ticket item anyway. This is for the best.
Tuevo or DeBrusk would be a good start. Brendan Dillon, DeSmith. A couple of cheap depth pieces.
Not sure about any of those Megs, do any of them really make us that much better for the costs?

Maybe there’s somebody else out there I’m missing that could be had.
Yeah...Teravainen, Bertuzzi, Toffoli, Monahan.
Just a lot of players with reasons not to sign them but also with arguments available to do so....

I'd have to really look at the list to see what's available Chef, I haven't done that yet. Gimme a minute
Anyway, those would be decent support players hopefully signing for supporting cast wages. We'd still need a third pairing D and a depth forward as well.

Really resigning Cole wouldn’t be a bad idea. They really need a penalty killing defensemen. If Tanev, Dillon and Marino are off the market, circling back to Cole on a one year deal seems like a good idea. He was very good on the PK in the regular season. Maybe DePetey will be ready to replace him in a bottom pairing role after a season in Abbotsford.

Thanks Donnie. Still pretty much Teuvo or DeBrusk and Dillon for me, even with the list. I really like Marchessault but he's getting up there in years, same with Toffoli. I would love to have Zed back but he seems intent on signing a Myers contract here, so he can take a hike.

Sounds like Cole and DeSmith going to market. Not concerned about either as there’s lots of bottom pairing D and backup goalies available.

Not sure what to make of it, but there was some chatter about Cole returning yesterday.

Wondering about whether they want to change tack and go for a right handed puck mover Brandon Montour with their wad. The D would look a little faster and he gets the puck up and out consistently.
Who moves up or onto to the left side on the 3rd pair is a problem for future Raisin though. There surely are deals to be had on lefties once everyone has blown their wad on free agency
QH - Hronek
Soucy - Montour
______ - Chaos

I could see Ron Francis going aggro on Montour with his 20 plus million in available space.
I believe the Kraken have only 5 D signed currently.
