Jaguar Meat photographed in his 1st Class pod set board Air Canada as his letter is released. Not a good look for the Maserati Marxist. Election will come after his pension is secured but I doubt that was ever the issue. He likely would have retained his seat anyways. That however was becoming more and more tenuous.
NDP emergency caucus meeting last night, my guess is two things became apparent.
- Any further support of the Trudeau Government would only erode their support further and drive more support to the Conservatives.
- By abandoning Trudeau now, at his lowest point, the NDP may be able to win back some of the Left that went Liberal as Trudeau took his Party Left.
Pierre has, this week, begun transitioning away from the bumper sticker slogans of opposition to more diplomatic statements of leadership.
Trudeau's cabinet shuffle is window dressing. Most interesting is Anand, close friend of Freeland, loses the prestigious Treasury Board, but retains the troublesome Ministry of Transport. Definitely a demotion for someone with leadership ambitions.
Some rumours saying Trudeau was ready to quit last Monday but was talked out of it by his inner circle (LeBlanc, Miller, Telford), others saying Telford is limitting contact with Trudeau so that he only hears from those who want him to stay, others saying his rumoured feeling of departure are a ruse for sympathy to make him stay.
Still more Liberal back benchers come out asking him to go after the cabinet announcement.
For those pushing for Trudeau to porogue, remember that when the House come back, a new Throne speech would occur and that becomes a vote of confidence. No matter what, this is simply a caretaker government.

Decent analysis, and opens with Rowan Atkinson references. Not always a fan of Invison, but he and his guests have some interesting takes.

The same as I believed a few months back, LeBlanc becomes interim Leader as Trudeau resigns, requires Liberal consensus ala Dion/Ignatlief, while a Leadership contest ensues.
They know the next Leader is a sacrificial lamb, let be LeBlanc and give a new Leader time to make their mark, become a known quantity and contest an election in four years.

A couple of things that came out yesterday.
Liberal Party bylaws - it is a 4 month process to elect a new leader. Candidates have a 90 day window to file their candidacy.
As we learned from the Don Valley nomination fiasco. You do not need to be a Canadian citizen to vote in the leadership convention. You only need to register with the Liberal Party. No financial contribution or membership fee.
Mark Carney is God Father to one of Freeland's kids.

Freeland being touted by some as the next leader should Trudeau resign.
That would be unfortunate because of the number of useful idiots who will vote Liberal again thinking that the party that lacked the backbone to vote no to the policies that have tanked this country will be better with a different Davos puppet at the helm.

Trudeau's best buddy Gerald Butts, wrote today that Freeland's resignation is the death blow to his time as PM.
He predicts Parliament will be perogued, instead of an interim leader.
How serious will Trump be dealing with a lame duck as Justin hangs on so he can be the eunuch host of the G7 in June.
Butt's fingers prints are all over Trudeau's tenure. University buddies, best man at Trudeau's wedding. He was head of the US World Wildlife Federation then left to run Trudeau's campaigns. Served in the PMO until he was forced to resign in the SNC scandal. Went back to the WWF but stayed active in Trudeau's inner circle and was their Twitter bulldog. He continued to run Trudeau's campaigns through all subsequent elections.
Justin doesn't fart unless Gerald says it is ok.

Should BC join blue states - California, Washington and Oregon and form a country? I’m in.
