So the net (late) 1st and two 2nds out for a one-time playoff boost and enhanced team stature and negotiating stance going forward? Fair enough?

Yes or no question...
Would you rather Joe Biden suffering from advanced dementia shitting his pants in front of vets or the Cheetos king?
The debate was like a scripted Stampede Wrestling skit FFS.
The world is fucked...thank fuck for the blissful ignorance that high THC grass affords the viewer

I'll say 'fair enough' - this team/core needed a jump start to get the experience. We have good leadership in place to learn valuable lessons from our short run and make adjustments based on those lessons. I hope we'll see even more consistency this coming year, and a team that knows what is needed for success in the post-season.

I'm on this side of the equation too.
And as others have noted, would Demko have been healthy and we made game 7 WCF or even the Cup Final this conversation point would be moot and the debate more unfounded than it currently is.

I see Aidan McDonough is getting a pass to UFA from Allvin and the Chipmunks.
That didn't last long.

Guentzel to the Bolts for a 3rd. Guessing he already told Allvin he wasn’t coming here otherwise that’s an easy deal to beat.
Hopefully we sign Marchessault as he’s what we need, but I’m guessing Allvin goes for DeBrusk. He’s solid but likely to be overpaid.

DeBrusk doesn’t move the needle. Petey needs more than that. Debrusk is the classic - has the tools but no tool box. That ain’t ever gonna change. Marchessault is a much better and more dangerous player than DeBrusk.
Really not surprised about Guentzel. He was a pipe dream.

I think Marchessault ends up back in Vegas DH.
As stated in the other thread a 1 year, AC show me deal for DeBrusk to play with Elias may serve both parties well.
Louis played wirh Tocch for a couple of years in Phoenix as I recall.

The right move is to go hard after Stamkos if we want to make hay in the playofffs. The guy can still play, had a great year last year. Last 3 seasons:
40 goals
34 goals
42 goals

Agreed on Marchessault - but Vegas would need to move a good amount of cash to get a deal for him done. They could easily do it as their players are very good and in demand, but remains to be seen how that’s done.
Agreed on DeBrusk as well, he’s solid but unspectacular. Maybe there’s somebody else out there I’m missing that could be had.

I've been for building out the team with some quality players at reasonable prices instead of chasing a big ticket item anyway. This is for the best.
Tuevo or DeBrusk would be a good start. Brendan Dillon, DeSmith. A couple of cheap depth pieces.
