What's the fallout entail?
The fallout is uncertain I think. If we trade Pettersson we could get full value and not miss a beat. If we trade Miller well he would control the destination and we went through this with Kesler and to a lesser extent Hamhuis. You never get full value for players on a full NMC. I suppose one huge difference is he has a lot of term left for the acquiring team so that may help the return but to trade him means taking a loss I think. Maybe a 1st and a roster player preferably a centre to play 2nd line minutes.

Who would he waive for? You have to think a contender and that means a late round 1st and who as a roster player. I dunno, maybe he’d go to Columbus.
I think the real obstacle in any trade is that he's a potential powder keg in the locker room for the acquiring team.

Well I wonder about Columbus which might be persuaded to give prime assets for a star player with term, but they are doing pretty well, I can't see them giving up Fantilli and I can't see us thinking Kent Johnson would be an adequate feature piece although I personally have a belief that BC players would like to be Canucks.

And then there is the Elliott Friedman speculation - Cozens and Byram for Pettersson. Can we get Krebs as well? They are supposedly buddies and from BC - which some people don't care about but I think it must be cool and inspiring for them.

If Cozens and Byram for Pettersson is possible, they should pull that trigger and don't look back.

If there's a trade of Miller for Zibanejad they should also do that and not look back.

Does anyone think that the "treatment" JT is getting from Tocchet is part of a bigger plan to make it uncomfortable on him so he agrees to waive before the TDD? Saying no, he isn't hurt. Saying it seems every time he is on the ice something bad happens. Cutting his ice time. Getting into words with him on the bench? There are teams who've made it difficult in the past on players with trade protection. Rutherford and Tocchet are old school. Allvin I think can be headstrong. If, big if, the Canucks have had enough and have decided to back Pettersson and decided they need to move on I would not be surprised if they want to make him uncomfortable.

Does anyone believe trading JT is the magic bullet to unlocking Scooter's potential?

So Scooter continues to play as Scooter does, what next?

I think it is one many options available. Still won’t fix the D assuming a centre comes back.

Fingers, it’s a known known that Allvin and the Chipmunk were wanting a centre in return for Scoots or Jimothy Timothy

HW, my all seeing eye has me convinced they want to build around the Petey/Hughes age gap realizing they’ve still got work to do. I keep coming back to Millers age in all of this as one of the deciding factor on who goes/who stays. I believe, that Miller and Family like it here, which makes it all the more shitty. Who doesn’t like a player who likes it here? We like it when players like our fair city.

You’ve completely lost the plot. Your Petey obsession is worst than Chefs Gillis obsession and Doyle’s Elmer obsession combined.

Krebs ain’t amounting to much more than a 4th line scrub. Don’t water down the return when trading foundational. Foundational for Foundational, always. Acquiring foundational is very difficult. Acquiring scrubs not so much. When Doyle was in the hey days of his softball career he was considered a scrub by his beer buddies on the team. His sole no. 1 job was to keep the beer cooler cool and the san Remo’s Jimmy special hot. He just couldn’t keep his hands out of the cookie jar.

Yup. I see them giving him the Kuzmenko treatment.

All this "leaked" stuff about one vs. the entire room, how is this "bullying" treatment different than what the coach/mgmt is accusing said player of... but in their own roundabout way?

Poke one guy, you know he's going to blow up. Poke the other guy, you know he's going to shut down.

We know who they're poking. Not the way you want to drive up value.

Playing the Trouba.

I don't see the plan fixing anything without a mini-implosion of the core and a re-tool on the fly. You free up this $8M and give it to Brock? The young dudes are all happy now? That's not going to improve the (winning) situation.

Fuck, this organization is so fuckin' dysfunctional. Rudderless with no direction. Kneejerk decision-making. Sign guys and then almost immediately forces them out. Expects loyalty, gives none.

Let's just fire another coach while we're at it. They've got no answers.

If this is true it would speak to the dysfunction in the organization that Lever intimated in another thread. Tocchet's press responses regarding JT are driving Miller's trade value down with each comment.

This behaviour also does nothing for the team's morale and bargaining positions in the future when it comes to signing extensions or acquiring UFA's. As a player you would have to ask yourself what value trade/movement protection has if the team is just going to go out of their way to make you really uncomfortable if/when you want to exercise your right to that protection.

Why has this lost the plot? With the exception of Hughes, it's time to cut bait on this iteration of the team altogether. There's too much going on to recover out of this by simply moving out one or the other.
