$7.74M x 8. That’s a hefty term for a 29 year old goaltender. Lately it seems only the really good ones stay consistent beyond 34.

I just have one minor request for Alvin and Rutherford moving forward - stop trading draft picks please.

They think they have a window now. It's a sensible thing to do if you believe this.

I just want them to recognize that it's not that huge a window, and will be sort-lived, and so be ready to bail on competing and go back to rebuilding before they completely flush the pipeline if it doesn't work after a defined period.

Posters grew tired of my asking how long ownership should let a GM try to manage a re-build before deciding whether or not he was successful enough to deserve more time to realize his plan. The question of how long a GM should try to keep a competitive window open is even more critical.

Trading draft picks for Hronek is good, draft picks for Lindholm was bad. If they didn’t spend years and years trading picks they may have had a Lindholm type player coming up through the ranks.

Lindholm was a 5th overall pick.

A healthy Demko and they maybe get in the finals Reef. A shot or two away my friend.

Very true but still prefer a little more long term planning. Also the team wasn’t really a contender so moving a 1st is not the best move in my opinion. I expect to see another first get moved before the season starts.

Canucks now have 14.5 mil in cap space. Targets are Tanev, Zadorov and Guentzel

Would Tanev be willing to sign for 3 mil? "Home town discount"
Zadorov sign for 5 mil?

That would leave 6.5 mil for a winger for Petey. Plus other scraps needed to fill out the roster.

Yeah, it would be tough to land Guentzel if we are signing both of those D. Look's like it will probably be 2 out of 3.
Tanev might go for 3 if it's a 6 year deal and he schedules a career ending injury after the third year.

"The Maple leaves are entertaining a seven-year max-term deal to keep Tanev's cap hit low."

... and yes, no doubt the plan is to have him spend the latter half of the contract on Robidas Island.

I don’t mind the 1st and 2nd for Hronek
Not a huge fan of the 1st for a rental in Lindholm
2nd to get rid of Mikheyev is a sacrifice I can live with
3rd and 5th for Zadorov rental I can live with
Don’t like the 2nd for Dermott
5th for Lafferty whatever it’s a 5th
We got good mileage for the 3rd on DeSmith
Who cares about the 7th for Kravtsov
5th for Ethan Bear, who cares
Don’t like losing the 2nd with Dickinson

We did receive a:

6th for Studnika
5th for Beauvillier
4th for Lazar
4th came with Hronek
3rd for Schenn
4th for Motte
3rd for Hamonic

It’s not as bad as it looks. I only dislike losing the 1st for Lindholm and the 2nd round pick to get Dermott and the 2nd round pick to get rid of Dickinson. The 2nd to lose Mikheyev hurts.

We’ve dealt enough 1sts and 2nds recently and hopefully they’ve gotten their fill out of it because if they continue at it, the pipeline will look nasty in a year or two and will look ugly for awhile. The good teams need those in-house ELC’s that turn into RFA’s to constantly be coming up through the system. I could care less about trading picks after the 3rd round, they rarely pan out.

It was a 3rd for Dermott which was a poor trade.

They also got a 4th back for Mikhayev

Me bad on the Dermott trade.

Missed the 4th return for Mikheyev, that being said picks beyond the 3rd round don’t move the needle much for ole Chef. Just need Allvin to hold off on trading any more 1sts, 2nds and 3rds for awhile.
