Well I do have it on good gossip that his absence is all about this issue. He was called out by the team AND asked if he would consider waiving his NMC. He was taken aback at the ask and requested time away to think. My understanding is that he and his wife do not want to move and I imagine now reading the article that a lot of that may have to do with the life she has set up for herself here in vancouver.
His modified NMC does not kick in until 26-27. I don't know if that means July 1st 26 or when the season starts in the fall of 26. Right now we are in 24-25. So if he refuses to waive we have awhile to wait before we can trade him on the modified agreement.
If true, that was extremely stupid by " the team". His wife has a successful career here, they love the city, 2 small children and one other minor detail.....a fucking NMC.
If they did that, good luck fixing it

This is now Boudreau who actually coached the players. Richardson who is one of the most well liked and well respected guys to play here in the last 15 years, and now Cam Robinson who isn't some Dhaliwal level hack. Yet Wiebo dismisses it as Miller being moody. Somebody dislodge this guys beard from his bum.'Nothing to see here'.... Miller is an issue....the guy had a massive blowout with HL in New York. He's worn out his welcome. Ship him out for a rental and prospects/picks. Deal Peter at the draft for kids and prospects. Get rid of Boeser at the deadline and go shopping in the summer. Trade everything that isn't nailed down at the deadline and figure out if Tocchet is the guy to move forward with.
And if they need culture carriers, guys like Schenn or Cole or maybe Olivier are the way to go.

Allvin and Rutherford seem to make a lot of moves they regret later. Not good visionaries they are.
I don't like everything they've done but you spent a decade licking the previous management's asscrack.
I just liked Jimbro, he’s a rink rat with mustard stains on his shirt, all disheveled, shirt untucked on one side, pants twisted, fly down, hairs a mess, stumbling over his words, forgets where he is going when he’s going somewhere, what’s not to like about him, he’s a legend in my mind but as a GM? Somebody put him there when he had no business being there. That’s not his fault

This sort of thing happens all the time. Not stupid if true. Just business.
Let’s remember there were all kinds of rumours of a rift between JT and Bo. Team chose to move Bo. At the time, and I dare say even now, most of us thought that was the right move. A number of reported rifts with other teammates. A fight with Pettersson in a practice. I think this is a pattern. As Blob pointed out he was traded out of NYR because of a verbal altercation with the King.
What we love about JT is also his cross the bear. His emotion makes him the great player he is. But his demeanour is also sour and bullying. It would be easier to trade Pettersson, we all know this. But if JT has locker room issues then it will continue. Who knows what the truth is. But something has to change. I don’t pretend I know the answers but this is not a good team. If handled properly there is an opportunity to retool without rebuilding.
But teams asking players with NTC or NMC to consider waiving happens all the time. It sucks for the player I guess but it’s business
At this point, looking at the shitshow that it has become, trading one guy isn't going to fix anything. It's like they should be finding a way to rebuild on the fly (here we go again) by nuking this core, save the captain.
The media just loves to poke at this festering sore that they mostly created, which is clearly a distraction to what the real needs are for this management group to solve.
Which comes first, mega trades or COY gets gassed?

Well the rumour certainly makes sense with what we're seeing.
The club is in for some dark days ahead
What's the fallout entail?
The fallout is uncertain I think. If we trade Pettersson we could get full value and not miss a beat. If we trade Miller well he would control the destination and we went through this with Kesler and to a lesser extent Hamhuis. You never get full value for players on a full NMC. I suppose one huge difference is he has a lot of term left for the acquiring team so that may help the return but to trade him means taking a loss I think. Maybe a 1st and a roster player preferably a centre to play 2nd line minutes.
Who would he waive for? You have to think a contender and that means a late round 1st and who as a roster player. I dunno, maybe he’d go to Columbus.

Quinn is 25.
I'd do a fast re-tool right now to purge the system. Could right the ship and Hughes would only be 28 with loads of gas in the tank.
Somewhere in NW BC trying (yet again) to trade a(nother) Swede…..
