Apparently the Habs are going all in on Lucic, they've always been after a power forwards.

Or the Ducks in Lucic's preferred Cali district comes in with an offer for Lucic, veteran squad way closer to a cup run compared to the oil.
Montreal? Actually that's not surprising.

Out of the playoffs 2 years in a row? Unacceptable.

Patience? Not a chance.

Krug extended in Boston. 4 years, $5.25M per.

TSN sure making this deal sound horrible:
A native of Royal Oak, Michigan, Krug originally signed with the Bruins in 2012 as an undrafted free agent out of Michigan State. Krug appeared in all 81 games for the Bruins this past season, scoring four goals and adding four assists.
Krug actually had 4 goals and 40 assists, 20th in Dman scoring.

James Wisniewski is bought out by Carolina.

Right-shooting, offense-first PP specialist. Coming off a 47-second season after an ACL tear in the first shift of the first game.

I'd take him.

I would absolutely look hard at Wisniewski. Curious as to what he might command. He could definitely give the pp some juice , that's for sure.

That's a tough injury to come back from at 32. A one year deal around $2-3M might makes sense, but multi-year is a huge risk.

I wonder who would win a slam dunk contest between Krug, Vatanen and Jordan Subban? My money is on Subban.

If this deal was about talent and age I would say the Preds made out like bandits. However I think PK is a bit of a dink and I would take Thunderbeard for the next 5 years myself.
Agreed.

PK might be 3 years younger, but Weber is 4 inches taller and 30 pounds heavier.

Subban is somewhat of an instigator while is a Weber mean nasty heavyweight.

Pretty sure the contract can't be renegotiated/reworded.

They could simply ask Bieksa to waive his NMC for the expansion draft though.

Pretty sure he would (best thing for the team + he knows Vegas won't select him).

Wasn't Sutter given a no trade on his final year before signing an extension?

Maybe they can adjust clauses but can touch term or dollars.

 bruh.

One more year of Jordan Subban in the AHL, then he can start the NHL the same age as Krug did at 22 I think.

Subban will then need to be deployed the same way as the Krugester.
Krug’s puck possession stats are good, too, but context is important.

He started 55 percent of his 5-on-5 shifts in the offensive zone last season, and he faced the sixth-toughest competition (based on Corsi Rel QoC) of the nine Boston defensemen who played in 30 or more games. It’s easier to drive possession when you are starting in the opponents’ end of the ice more often than not.
That said, Krug has played against better players in each of the last three seasons, as he has earned more and more trust from Bruins coach Claude Julien.

Why the buyout? Cuz Carolina needs more cap room? They have enough to sign every UFA in the league right now. This seems to be a dumb move both cash-wise, and cap wise for Carolina.

I get the feeling that Edmonton is Lucic's kind of town. If hockey hadn't worked out, he's be pounding Ft. Mac pork chop bimbos at 3am.

Bet he picks up a a used lifted F350 with a sled deck at a distress sale to go cruising the nightlife in.

Cruising? Can't he just walk it?

No, Sutter was given an "immediate NTC" on his new contract extension:
http://www.nhl.com/nhl/en/v3/ext/CBA201 ... %20(1).pdf

No Move/No Trade Clauses that are negotiated as part of a contract extension may become
effective immediately upon execution of, but prior to the effectiveness of, the extension contract,
provided:
a) The Player is otherwise currently eligible to have a No Move/No Trade Clause, and
b) The Club with whom the contract extension is entered into agrees to make the No
Move/No Trade Clause effective immediately upon execution of the extension contract.
(credit to Island Nucklehead for pointing this out once upon a time)

In the case of Bieksa however, this (wrong) report is talking about making changes to an existing extension.
11.10 No Renegotiation. In no event shall a Club and a Player negotiate a change in any terms
of a Player's SPC for the then-current season or for any remaining season of an SPC (except as
provided for in Section 11.8(b)). This provision shall not prohibit a Player and Club from
negotiating an extension to an existing SPC in accordance with the terms of Section 50.5(f)
hereof, or from negotiating a new or reformed SPC or Offer Sheet in the limited context
and time-frame expressly set forth in Section 11.6(a)(vi) above
.
Seriously, who are you going to believe, yours truly or

.... Julie Stewart-Binks, host of Fox Soccer Daily for Fox Sports. :hmmm:

She's the "reporter" who tweeted this gem.

Obviously she knows nothing about the NHL CBA.

(she's cute though)

Do you see any other reporters reporting this?

No, you don't.

Like I say, Ducks will ask Bieksa to waive his NMC just for the expansion draft.

And he will.

End of story.
