Nice article on Carson Focht. He's trending well and hopefully we have another 5th round steal like the Hockey Gaud. He plays a 2-way game, admires J.Toews and is getting some coaching from a Flame Great and Canuck Killer, Mr. Joel Otto.
A sleeper prospect, could be a gooder
Based on what?
Probably based on the article. That seems pretty self-explanatory

Can’t knock our amateur scouts too much theses days, but while they were watching Woo and Focht in Calgary, I wonder if any of them liked Egor Zamula. Looks like the Flyers have found themselves another beauty to go along with Phillipe Myers. That is a team that may have expansion protection issues. Either way they have a lot of good young D men. Hexy left a good young nucleus there for Chuck Fletcher.

Ya we seemed to have done a good job scouting forwards and goalies. Hughes fell to us and Juolevi has yet to prove he belongs. We seemed to get a decent one in Tryamkin but he left and who knows when or if we ever see him again. There is certainly potential in Woo and Rathbone but not much else on the drafting front for D. Need together a scout to scout just D.

This morning on 650am radio, Brian Burke said he feels Juolevi can still become an NHL player. Said it was "really" close in 2016 when he was
in charge in Calgary. They were very torn between Olli and Mathew. They did expect the Canucks to pick MT and said they'd not be disappointed.

Of course this is a tad subjective in that you'd have to believe what BB says. :hmmm:

He's 22. There is still time.

He had six minutes of ice time. Might want to pump the brakes a bit.

Well, he was moving very well out there. Best mobility I have ever seen out of him and that has always been the main thing holding him back. No reason he can't make the team next season if healthy. He's a competitor too, almost Beagle like when it comes to getting in front of shots.

Yes, the future of Canucks dee doesn't seem as bleak as it has in recent times.

Hughes – Tree
Juolevi – Rafferty
Rathbone - Woo
Brisebois

Maybe only a couple of those guys (besides Hughes) will make the grade

... but there is some hope in there.

Still need to add to that pool of course.

It's the NHL level awareness that can only come with some game experience. If this was September of the normal variety, I think he's makes
the team. Our bottom three are dubious NHLers now. With Benn last year it seemed to be not able to keep up.
Stecher's game has gone to hell because he's not understanding how to take a lesser ice time role and be effective. That leaves Oscar and
of the three, he's been the closest to adequate.
There's a chance for Olli in the play ins / offs (hopefully,), someone will have a bad run or block a shot, etc.
Whatever, this is a great experience for the guy.
