Agree,. From Trump's first term, a big issue was our fairy marketing board. As anyone living near the border knows, dairy products are much cheaper in the US.

I know there were a lot of complaints last go when Trump applied tariffs on steel and aluminium. Much of the aluminum come from smelters in Quebec and BC. The scale and energy requirements dictates where there's smelters are built. I know one small US machine shop selling high end CNC bike parts was caught out by the price increases of the aluminum they need for manufacturing..

Petroleum to the US is huge and makes up the bill of Canada's petroleum exports. Because of Canada limited market access, the US is able to buy at lower than market cost and the export it via the Gulf. Even with the newly expanded TMX, the bulk of that goes to Cherry Point or California. It really hasn't opened up the Asian market to Canada's advantage. That is what Northern Gateway would have done.

Canada's Senate passed the GST Holiday Bill, but not before hearing that it will only provide an average tax relief of $4.51 to Canadians.

No word on the cost to businesses.

Canada Post strike has flooded Purolator (owned by Canada Post) with parcels and in parts of Canada they are now refusing to accept parcels. Businesses are having orders cancelled because delivery can not be guaranteed before Xmas.

Leaks out of Ministry of Finance put the deficit at $62 billion after budgeting last Spring for a no more than $40 billion to stay within the fiscal guardrails.
