Ekblad isn’t behind the Nuge or Hischier. Way too soon to call on 2018 and 2019 yet.
It’s pretty friggin’ close!
It’s not bad. I think Dahlin will climb the ladder and so will Jack Hughes

Dahlin yes, Jack Hughes not so sure. Just not seeing any magic at all from the kid. His Bro is on a whole other level which is funny because most thought it would be the other way around

I just have one minor request for Alvin and Rutherford moving forward - stop trading draft picks please.
They think they have a window now. It's a sensible thing to do if you believe this.
I just want them to recognize that it's not that huge a window, and will be sort-lived, and so be ready to bail on competing and go back to rebuilding before they completely flush the pipeline if it doesn't work after a defined period.
Posters grew tired of my asking how long ownership should let a GM try to manage a re-build before deciding whether or not he was successful enough to deserve more time to realize his plan. The question of how long a GM should try to keep a competitive window open is even more critical.
The mouth breather never bitched once when picks were puked away left right and Centre by the previous administration. He is also too lazy to mention Allvin has acquired some picks too, including the 1st for Bo. Doesn't fit the genius/Lord Benning circle jerk. He neglects to mention the mangled cap and OEL poison that was left behind.
And fwiw this whole.... it's a short window is a pile of shit.

You appear to agree that the Canucks have a window now. How long do you believe it will last? What event will signal its end?
Core player drop-off, I imagine, but which one, and how much? Or will it be a team performance thing?
I find your position interesting, because we were two of the most persistent Benning critics on this board, but the fundamental basis of my criticism (well,
one of the fundamental bases) was that I feared he was setting the Canucks up for a short window. You don't seem to think that happened.

I find I am depressed that we couldn’t re-sign Zadorov. Only losing Cole would have been a success I think but now I am a little worried about how we plug holes.
If rumours are true we went as high as 5 M per year then I am ok with him walking. But it is a little scary.
But we have moved on from the Russian experiment and that leaves us with cap. Will be interesting to see what teams panic tomorrow to re-sign their soon to be FA. Then silly season begins. Lord help us……

Not sure how much trouble we're going to get in really.
The "Guentzel fear" appears unfounded.
Seems like he's going to Tampa.
Stamkos isn't coming here.
Or Marchessault.
Nor Reinhart.
Lindholm is out.
Zadorov ditto.
Montour I seriously doubt.
Feels to me like they infill with "mid" and spin the same tale next year hoping their goalie doesn't get hurt again, Boeser didn't have a one off and their shining star is better when it's important.

I haven't completely given up on acquiring Gunz yet, but yeah it's not looking good.
If not, maybe we go after guys like DeBrusk/Bertuzzi.

Zads wants to be overpaid and some team will do just that.
We can't.
We all know he caught lightning in a bottle and was playing over his head during his brief time here.
And that is fresh in everyone's mind around the league.
I was willing to go as high as $5M and not a penny more.
The rumour is that was Canucks final offer, so I'm good.
Buh-buy Mr Zadorov.
There are plenty of fish in the sea, they'll find a cheaper replacement and we will carry on.

Yeah.....anything more than 6x5 is max outlay for what you get.
Hell, long term that is likely to much for what you get.
Both sides recognized an opportunity but couldn't make it work.
...and the band played on.

Everyone is still available so we’ll see what happens. The Guentzel one is weird as he was gone to Carolina, then Van had the inside track, now it’s TBay. I’ve given up trying to figure it out.
If it’s not Guentzel or Reinhart (can’t imagine he leaves Florida) then grab a couple of solid wingers and another top 4 D. The team will still be very good next year.

Love what Z brought here - but he’s going to be a silly contract that will be regretted as soon as it’s signed. He’s just not good enough especially given he’s almost 30.
Will be interesting to see who they pivot to on the D as one more body (at minimum) is needed. They love big D so I thought Brenden Dillon was a no-brainer, but supposedly he’s not coming here. Joel Edmundson maybe? Huge dude but pretty limited. Hakanpaa? Same as Edmundson.

Hey DieHard, good seeing you again...
I think there are more pressure points after July 1st and before the start of the regular season, including teams who need to get cap complient to find complimentary players like a Dillon ...
Training camp will give the organization an opportunity to assess how NHL ready the likes of Raty, Lettermaki and Sassons up front are along with EP2 and Woo who I understand will be resigned on the blue line...
Not sure how long they can go filling their roster with free agents and their contracts versus players in the system on entry level deals...
Take care...

I could see a guy like Jake DeBrusk signing a 1 year, show me deal here to play with EP in an Anson Carterish with the twins fashion propelling him to a bigger deal elsewhere next off season.
