Yeah I like Hansen a lot but he might be a guy I'd look at flipping if you could get a top 20 pick and another asset . Perhaps package him with Hamhuis and get a first rounder and two prospects . He is turning 30 and has two more years on this deal . They have to avoid giving him a five year 25 million dollar extension .

I'm curious if the Jets would move Ladd for him which would give Vancouver the inside track on re signing Ladd .

LOL how the fuck you compare Barkov to Sutter? It's like trying to compare Horvat to Drouin.

Really? Barkov is obviously way fucking better, but they're both defensively oriented two-way centres.

Kopitar-lite at 6 for 6 would be welcome on any team in the league.

Edmonton plucks Clendenning off waivers.

I suspect this losing streak is forsling their hand.

I'll see myself out.

I understood the move Benning made at the time but man it seems wasted now. Not that Forsling will necessarily turn out to be an NHLer. Benning's early moves, Vey, Clendenning, look like wasted moves right now but Baertschi and Etem look promising. Both Benning and Chiarelli are familiar with Clendenning from his Boston college days.

I didn't think it made any sense at the time. Still don't.

Hopefully Forsling doesn't turn into a top-4 Dee.

I believe we were racked with injuries and needed a dee we could plug into the lineup immediately

... which is exactly what we did with Clendening (I think he played every game for the next 5 weeks).

Benning correctly assessed that Forsling would never overcome his horrible skating

... and I do believe scouts everywhere have now given up on the kid.

Have they? That's news to me.

Anyway the injury excuse is never a good one for making a bad trade, especially when you're not a contender. We had other options.

Forsling at least looks to have some high-end offensive skills, especially on the PP with his great shot and instincts. Clendening just sucks. Looks to me like we drafted a pretty good player for a fifth rounder, then pissed it away. Another strange decision for a rebuilding team that should be stockpiling young prospects.

Time will tell.

That's what I'm here for kid. :mex:

Forsling wasn't drafted until the 5th round for a reason: He can't skate.

He goes on a scoring tear once in a while

... and then his bad skating catches up to him (not unlike most of his opponents).

He got hot at the WJC a coupla years ago... and then again to start this season with Linkopings

(but just 4 points in his last 20 games)

At this point they both suck.

No point in even discussing them really...

Okay Doc.

Just curious, has Benning made any decisions you won't ride to his rescue for?

I mean I think he's a moron, but I'll still acknowledge the stuff he's done that I agree with. You seem to be in love with the guy, it's weird.

I'm not in love with Benning any more than I am with folks like Pascal, Tesla, or Newton.

I do what I do for the sake of the greater good for mankind.

Actually, Clendening was picked up just before injuries ravaged the Vancouver defence. A move I later called prescient.

Part of Benning's genius is his visionary capability.
