Disagree, it’s not now. Much, much older cores than ours are consistently winning the cup, it is veterans tournament, always has been with the exception of a few like the young Gretzky Oilers.
The window just opened for us there is plenty of time. The heartbeat of this team is Quinn Hughes. He just turned 25

I think the Chef is correct, we have more of a Mr Aquilini jerking off problem than a short window.
Everyone important is signed long term; we can afford to be patient here, this is not the year.
Although I am sure Mr Aquilini will wat to push his chips in again.

Is there someone other than Dude talking about the dynamics of pushing chips in?
Seems UW was expounding upon a cpre group, comparative state analysis of where he feels the team is at but did he suggest all in was the move?

No choice but to be patient.
But with Miller approaching his best before date the Canucks will need another top end center in the future to keep that window open.
I'd like to see them keep their 1st rd. pick and try for another blue chip prospect. It seems top end centers and rhd are almost impossible to aquire any way else if your club is up against the cap as the Canucks will be for quite some time if they retain the core.

The collective media is in Stanley Cup contender go all in hysteria mode but I'm not sure to what extent if any that has penetrated the sober minds here Donny.
But I'm confident it's music to the ears of Mr Aquilini.

Ah.
I see.
The collective Vancouver media (and outliers) I pay zero attention to but I'm pretty sure they are all the kids that used to hang out in the library for sanctity and (more importantly) safety back in High School.
They know less now than they did then.
I'm legit surprised anyone listens to them tbh....for shits and giggles more than anything I suppose.

I only listen to Halford and Brough. The rest are morons
If dissention and un-unity still reigns in the dressing room, I’m of the mind that Miller should be moved. I am still stuck on how well the group played in his absence, especially Petey. Move him for a younger player, or players, bringing down the core average age to Hughes and Petey. Extending our cup window and draft goaltender - Ravensburgen who is consistently ranked between 20th and 30th in the mock drafts.

The Canucks are currently 13th overall in the league standings, tis not the season to go all in and move futures for rentals, we need to reel that in this year. It will be hard for Allvin and especially Rutherford, they are as impatient as the Aqualini’s.

I like most of this idea, and the reasoning behind it, except for drafting a goalie.Chef Boi RD wrote: ↑Fri Dec 20, 2024 5:58 am If dissention and un-unity still reigns in the dressing room, I’m of the mind that Miller should be moved. Although I must allow for the possibility that there have been advances in the assessment of young goaltending talent, historically, it has been one of the harder positions for which to forecast ultimate professional success. Yes, Benning's gamble on Demko paid out for a long time, but he's not making the draft picks any more, and Demko was still the 3rd pick he made that year. Meanwhile, it seems to me that there are usually better-than-average goalies available on the free agent market, or heavily discounted on the trade market.
On the other hand, as noted elsewhere, just about the only place to acquire first line centre or 1st pairing RHD talent is through the draft. Also, (again, historically, and there may have been recent advances) drafting a top-scoring centre from the WHL or OHL is the lowest risk of whiffing on a late first-round pick. So in general terms, that's where I prefer to see the team spend its draft picks, though of course I acknowledge that they do pay all those scouts for a reason.

Elliotte Fried Balls is reporting 15 mins ago that Chris Kreider is a healthy scratch today. Cue in the Miller to NYR rumours.

I’ll take the larger sample size from last season.Chef Boi RD wrote: ↑Fri Dec 20, 2024 5:58 am I only listen to Halford and Brough. The rest are morons

Team clicking along.
Petey gets into a funk. Can’t deal with the pressures of contract negotiations and the actual game. Starts to slump bad. The team struggles too. Finally he gets what he wants but continues to suck even more. The entire time Miller, Boeser, Hughes, and the 3rd line, continue to produce and find ways to win despite the boat anchor on the PP and lack of any meaningful production from the 2nd line.
Our Vézina runner-up gets hurt halfway through the first round and we run with a pair of backups.
Quinn gets hammered by Nashville and runs out of gas slowly against Edmonton.
Boeser gets hurt in game 5 of round 2.
The team becomes JT and a 3rd line…..not enough to get past McDavid and Draisaitl (was close though).
Pettersson, instead of stepping up when other guys go down, continues to suck and then blames it on an unreported injury dating back to the all-star game.
What I see is a guy who can’t play when a teammate who hurt his feelings is around but shrinks back into a shell when the guy returns.
And, while the team did play pretty well during Miller’s absence, Pettersson (though getting some helpers) did not carry it. He produced more, but he was far from driving the bus. Hughes, with help from Garland, was behind the wheel.
If JT is a problem, then yes, ship him out (if possible…..NMC and all). BUT, do NOT expect to ever see Pettersson carry a team or drive play the way Miller does. So I say if you move on from JT, then move on from Pettersson while you still have 31 places to shop.
I realize many will be saying that doing that closes this window and we’re rebuilding again and then Hughes won’t stay etc. I get that. But I do not, and nor should anyone with half an eye for hockey, see a Stanley Cup winning team in Vancouver right now. I’d prefer to see that acknowledged and corrective steps (short-term and long term) taken right away rather than piss away another decade of my Canuck fan life watching this team stumble into the post-season with unrealistic aspirations.
Somewhere in NW BC trying (yet again) to trade a(nother) Swede…..

Thanks Donny.
Although it’s probably a tad heavy on the loathing for 5th and Jello…..
