Local restaurant shut down and laid off all their staff when inside dining was curtailed. The owner just re-opened with a couple of volunteers to do curbside service.

Staying busy - I'm refinishing a wall in the entryway that's LONG overdue - and then start working down the hallway. I had been planning this for a while, and bought supplies about a month ago. Nice to have less work to deal with for a while, so I can keep my days filled with battling an epic to do list.

They wouldn’t be able to do that here. If you are laid off because of work shortage, and the company is hiring within the next six months, they have to offer you the position before taking on someone else.
If you are fired because of something you did, it doesn’t apply, just if they have cited work shortage as the cause.

They wouldn’t be able to do that here. If you are laid off because of work shortage, and the company is hiring within the next six months, they have to offer you the position before taking on someone else.
If you are fired because of something you did, it doesn’t apply, just if they have cited work shortage as the cause.
I think it is incredibly sleazy, especially because those workers and volunteers are all reliable for government COVID19 handouts. The government could even be covering 75% of their wages for the employer.

I live out by 6 road in richmond and although of course much slower, the international flights are very much still happening.
two or three a day at least from Air-China. Lufthansa, British Airways,Japan, etc.
The jets aren't even wearing masks.
