Come on Chef - it isn't going to happen, at least not a full take over. However, we should be looking at a much closer relationship with the USA - more like becoming a protectorate of the USA. So we will still have our own government, health care, etc. With much closer ties to the USA and for the protection they could offer us, especially in the north, I would be all for it. We would have to adopt the US dollar, but that would be the cost of closer ties. I certainly would rather be part of the USA, then a slave country to China or Russia.

What is NATO going to do when China or Russia start encroaching on what they consider disputed territory? If we are a protectorate of the USA, they would not allow it. I don't really trust NATO to help Canada with any disputed territory in the north.

Considering that Trump is potentially going to withdraw from NATO because the allied members (Canada included) aren't keeping up their financial end of the bargain.....yeah NATO is unreliable.

The CL-415's were already there. Quebec has an agreement with LA Fire to contract then in the Canadian fire off season. There was no sending in the cavalry for this. The stuff being sent now is rather Johnny Comes Lately.

All this discussion of the cisterns on the hills running out of water and why aren't they replenishing with sea water.
- How do you get the water volume to the cistern faster than it is being used?
- What is the total lift to pump up? How many pumping stages would you require?
- How large of a pipe would you need for the volume required?
- What would be the weight of the pipe and water in the pipe and how would you anchor it?

It may look like an obvious solution but start looking into the logistics.
