“I would love to believe that when I die I will live again, that some thinking, feeling, remembering part of me will continue. But as much as I want to believe that, and despite the ancient and worldwide cultural traditions that assert an afterlife, I know of nothing to suggest that it is more than wishful thinking.” - Carl Sagan

Albert Einstein - stated he did not believe in life after death, adding "one life is enough for me." He was closely involved in his lifetime with several humanist groups. Einstein rejected a conflict between science and religion, and held that cosmic religion was necessary for science.

I love the randomness of Megs' post. It keeps the original spirit of this thread.

"It is better to die on your feet than to live on your knees."

No truer words were spoken.

Absolutely. The conventional wisdom has been that it was imported to Europe from the Americas.

But recent finds have shown that there were cases as early as in the 14th century in Europe, ie before Contact was made. A new theory is that it was present on both sides but more benign and that the mixing of strains made it more aggressive,

Archaeologists have also discovered that early natives invented the shopping cart as well....the travois.

Dragging it around collecting trash and meat just like downtown Eastside and 118th in Edmonton
