One hell of a tax deduction.
Over the Internet, you can pretend to be anyone or anything.

That's pretty amazing, I have to say. Now, if his bro is even a fraction of PK's potential ....

Fantastic. Really impressive.
Now if only the NFL owners could do something similar...

Most of the hockey world was stunned that Franson didn't get $5M as a UFA.

His stint in Nashville and the cap-crunch probably have a lot to do wit dat dere...

I like Franson, but I gave up on the idea when Sbisa was re-signed.

Also... when Benning started talking about wanting his dee to be better at the transition game.

Franson is slow of foot, so not Benning's kind of guy right now amirite"?

Voynov Returning to Russia
"Earlier today, I notified the National Hockey League, the National Hockey League Players' Association and the Los Angeles Kings of my decision to immediately begin the formal process of returning to Russia with my family," Voynov said. "I sincerely apologize to those in and around the game of hockey, who have been affected by my situation, and I also wish the players of the LA Kings success in the future."
The Kings then followed with their own statement, announcing they were already taking the necessary steps to terminate Voynov's contract.
"During this period of detention [by U.S. Immigration], the Los Angeles Kings decided he would no longer play for the team," the Kings said in a statement. "We established a deadline of Sept. 17 - the beginning of our 2015-16 training camp - to reach this outcome. Mr. Voynov's announcement today of his intention to leave the United States and return to Russia makes the termination unnecessary.
Since the Kings did not formally terminate his contract, he remains property of the club, should he ever return to the NHL.

Good. Now the Kings can afford to re-instate Richards!

Grabner traded to leaves for five players, forward Taylor Beck and minor leaguers Matt Finn, Christopher Gibson, Tom Nilsson and Carter Verhaeghe.

Why? Seems Toronto wants contract room to sign as many players on PTOs as possible as potential TDD material.

The Islanders get a little cap relief to allow them to resign some players.

Word spreading Bozak close to being moved.

NYI announce signing of Steve Bernier and Brock Nilson. The 3 million cap they saved on Grabner allows them to stay in the cap area they want to be, sign those two. Dal Colle now expected to have a good shot at sticking with team. In one move NYI are able to restock the farm team.

More from Toronto on the trade:

Sheesh, what does that say about new regime's opinion of Burke/Nonis drafting? That's almost a quarter of a farm team dumped in one shot.

Not really. They traded away guys they felt were long shots to make the NHL to free up four contracts. They will use those contracts to sign guys on PTOs that they think will return picks at the TDD. In addition they get Grabner, who if they like they can re-sign, if not, they can try to move him at the TDD as well. It's all about getting more picks for them at this point.

And maybe in the process you tank for a lottery pick.
