Too faint for links

(Listen to Halbro this morning...listen carefully when he talks about the rumours he's hearing from colleagues but can't say yet)
so in other words, there is zero credibility in this rumour?
lol. Yes.

It would make sense to change the regime before the QH trade so the new one can build around their vision.
JR's probably ready to go back to retirement anyway.

Brough mentioned Shanahan on X. I’d be down for that. But you definitely don’t give the responsibility of trading Hughes to those who are responsible for putting us in a situation where Hughes wants out. Like rewarding failure. Plus, I’ve lost complete trust is these two dingbats

Whoever the new management will be, they should get their chance to make a pitch to Hughes, ideally before the TDD this year. In the worst case, the decision on Hughes has to be made over the summer.

I think in order to maximize your return, the sooner you do it the better. Teams wouldn’t mind having a Quinn Hughes for a playoff run this year and will pay dearly. They’ll be less inclined to part with futures (overpay) during the offseason, combined with having only one season of certainty with Hughes with his UFA status coming at season’s end. The longer a team has him on their team the bigger the runway is in trying to convince him to sign. Plus you get half a season of him this year.

Tear the bandaid off, but I do believe that the Aqualini’s won’t approve a trade with this management group and may get their guy in the off season and give the new regime the authority to trade him. Gotta wonder if the Aqualini’s have lost faith in this group in making trades. I certainly have

This is the situation I have resigned myself to as a Canuck fan. It is better to trade him now, assuming the Canucks know he will be gone in just over a year.

The great Gary Mason chimes in:

“To see what was widely viewed as a young, up-and-coming team implode the way it has – with a savvy, experienced NHL veteran in Jim Rutherford at the head of their management team, no less – in such a short period of time is unfathomable”

Makes one wonder about the behind the scenes.

The gaping hole at center-ice is a major contributor to this, and that is 100% on the involved parties (40+9) as well as the people responsible for signing and trading the contracts.

More and more is falling on the latter tho…..

M. Pettersson
Demko
Silovs/Lankinen
Kane
Suter

None of these are showing astute Prez/GM’ing.

No need to have signed 40 for what they did when they did.

They've tossed some picks away to get rid of shit like the last regime as well.

IMHO, the original mistake was trading Horvat instead of Miller, then not trading Pettersson, mistake no. 2. The third mistake was Pettersson’s contract. Since then they’ve been chasing their own damn tail digging themselves deeper with each attempt to fix the mistake of the last attempt to fix the previous mistake and so on. It’s been a comedy of errors ever since, one piled upon another. They are cursed. Get them outta there before they do more wrongs.

There are only two ways you can say that trading Bo over JT was a mistake…..

1. They already knew there was a problem between JT and Petey.

2. You are making that statement entirely through the context of hindsight.

Otherwise you simply are not keeping a 60 point guy over an 82 point guy when their contract ask is the same (JT’s was $500k less actually).

Dude was well off Horvat back in the day.

Hindsight indeed.

Yeah. We all know the recipes in Chef’s cookbook are subject to seasonal adjustments.

Chef helped me create "Bo2Max".

We all love the shit-stirring Dude, but c'mon...

If you want to use hindsight, they should have kept the two old guys, saved money to deepen other positions, made a BOLD move by selling high on the so called "1C" and gotten quality prospects/picks back... this would have extended FA's mission of remaining competitive even if logic dictates the younger guy "should" be better for the long-term future.

I prefer the alternate reality instead of this one.
