None of our prospects are anything more than that, a prospect.
I don't think Boser is anything yet, he hasn't proved anything yet. I do not count the chickens until they hatch.
RD your wrong, no position is easy to draft a top 3 forward or a top 2 defender or a top goalie, but it is easy to draft a 2nd or 3rd line player and put them on the first line.

Just realized it is 2 weeks until TDD.
Will our beloved GM wait until the last minute and then do nothing and watch a few UFA walk away free?
We thought he wouldnt wait until the last minute but it seems to happening again. Of course the whole NHL is barely making any trades with the Vegas draft coming up.
Poor TSN and SNET, another day with the cast standing around with their thumbs up their buts with nothing to do.

Wanna bet the Canucks do nothing, claiming that there was no deal that "made sense".
If they do move someone it's likely Burrows maybe and Miller. Hansen will not agree to move, imo. Personal reasons to stick around plus the expansion draft. Why would he agree to go to a new team now and then risk being claimed by Las Vegas? And then sign as a free agent in 2018 somewhere else? If I were Hansen I'd stay put until my contract was up and then sign with the team of my choice.

If they ask Hansen to waive he has to submit an 8 team list. He's in kind of a crappy situation. Personally I'd protect and move him next deadline, but then he could also play hardball and give Elmer 8 non playoff teams. So maybe they ask him if he would go to a couple teams voluntarily. I can't see a solid payoff team protecting him to be honest . So then he goes to Vegas for a year and a new team in the summer of 2018. That's four teams in a year and a half.
I like Hansen a lot but he will want to cash in next summer and he'll be old and grey by the time the Canucks are competitive again.
Elmer can ill afford to shit the bed again his deadline. It's less than two weeks away so he had better already be talking to these agents. The optics of another deadline like the last one will be horrible for management.

It seems they like to go against the grain of the fans sometimes just to be different.
It's all fine and dandy to be proud and keep everyone cause it's the easy thing to do, but for love of god they got sell some vets this year for whatever they can get without taking any term contracts back, I think thats whats holding things up as well, if we take anything back it's hopefully another UFA or a player with one year left.
OR simply just retaining money on Burr/Mills.
Hansen situation will boil over to the expansion draft and JB will have to see if he can swing a pick he gets from Burr/Mills to give to Vegas to protect him, to me that makes sense, unless a contender pays up a great prospect right now, that to me would be ideal. Erat->Forsberg yo.

I wouldn't trade players for anything. If the offers aren't fair, I wouldn't jump. If some GM's are fishing for deals, let them fish somewhere else. No reason to help someone win a cup unless you get a fair deal. Rather not disrupt the team than just move people for the sake of moving people. Low round draft picks rarely work out, you have just as much chance of success using your contract slots to sign FAs after the draft. I'd want a third rounder or higher to move anyone.

There will be value for players. If Elmer fucks the dog again there will be a lynch mob and I think ownership will be leading the charge

Jim Benning snagged some good choices even with 3rd-5th rounders.
Tryamkin, Forsling, Brisebois, Zhuke, Adam Gaudette! Mr Hollywood - Lockwood.
So if we can get any picks in that range and not have to take back any bad contracts for next season, management should go for it, even if the picks are for 2018 the better draft year, imo we should load up more just get more picks in general.

All good and well for the future but I still say, Benning needs to also find some one for the now.
For the fans.
for the owners.
For the other players.
And I mean, at the deadline. Not another pricy older FA in July.
Note: I mean FA in two ways...

No he doesn't. There's no more shortcuts. Duchene is a free agent in two years and there's no chance in hell he re ups here. He is 26 and will want a chance to win after all those crappy seasons in Colorado. They should be targeting picks and young players 18-24. Wake the fuck up.

Hansen had his chance to cash in with his last contract, instead, he signed on the cheap with a MNTC.

But I, and everyone else I talk to, simply will not support another year of the current crap!
Besides, I didn't say they shouldn't be targeting picks.
You wake up. Read the f*cking post.

OK, I'm calmer now.
Blob: You can't totally ignore the business end of it.
Most hockey fans that go to games and buy stuff and that buy Ice Center TV game packs, which all teams get a cut of, don't even follow the picks and prospects. Not until they are in the building, on the big team.
They need something other than terms like, future, down the road, in 2 or 3 or 5 years.

They should have a shitpile of cash July 1 2018. Sign John Tavares and Ike Turner and you have 2/3 of a top line. Take the cheque book away from Ignitowski this July and only allow one year minimum deals for next year.

Tavares and/or Price.
