I can understand shutting down AM radio - does anyone still listen? But they could have waited until an alternative was in place.

I listen(ed) to SN650 via streaming to a number of games each year. I would hope that something similar is available when the season starts.

I'm guessing there's still a lot of people who listened to the sports talk during their commutes who will miss this.

Not to mention pre and post games have been a staple since way back as far as what was it, AM 980 (so far back can't even remember)? Now what??

Rogers apparently says they'll continue to broadcast Canucks radio games but I don't know where. Not so for Calgary, they supposedly say.

They'll all move to online podcasts within a few weeks I'd imagine. I just listen to them as they upload onto Amazon music so if it comes from a footwear studio or a basement on PoCo it doesn't matter.

The nostalgia and accessibility of radio is a big loss though

It also seems like they recieved a gag order with their severance cheques. No one is talking.

Canucks radio broadcasts will continue on another local Rogers owned station. That's confirmed.

The owner of the biggest franchise owns the media platform the smaller competing franchises use? And they just reduced fan access in the smaller markets by knocking down their radio platforms the day after completing the 100% ownership purchase of the big franchise?

Nah. They wouldn't do that. There must be some fair competition bylaw in the NHL, or some anti monopoly legislation on the books in Canada that would prevent that...
