Nah. GMs are like goalies. You always need to be scouting the next one. I predict we go old for the next GM. Lots of Grey.

You misinterpret my post.

We are saying the same thing.

Both in jest as well.

An AHL championship is a great start sure but can he oversee systems and strategies that may lead to success once the personnel arrive? Or is as Topps says he just a feel good story?
And how did he follow that up?

Once they start trying to win again, it will be. For the next season, at least, all the Canucks need from a coach is that he be good at skill development and instilling good habits.

I do like the Sedins as co-presidents, though. I think that the Sedins are two of the smartest people who have been associated with the Canucks,
But not too smart. If they were any smarter, they wouldn't associate with the Canucks.😀
I am hoping that a fondness for the city or the organization is clouding their otherwise superior judgement.

Who have these guys properly developed though? It seems like they've not had nearly enough success sending guys up from for my liking.

My gut is telling me they're getting put in place to repair the culture more than develop prospects

Well that may speak more to the quality, or lack of quality of the prospects we have. Mancini and Dpetey are the only 2 on D we have "developed" Buium and Willander went right to Vancouver. Up front we have developed Sasson, Karlsson and Lekkerimaki, who hasn't had a fully healthy season since he turned pro.

Who else has been there that we could develop? Tolipilo?

I think development starts now. We have a few kids in the pipe that we have to see if they can develop and we have a big draft coming up. I think we are realistically a few years away from seeing if we can develop players. That of course depends upon us getting some worthy prospects.

That's bottom of the league bad performance Wids.

Dpete is a bottom pairing depth piece, Mancini is a 7/8, Sasson is a waiver wire level asset, Karlsson is like a Ufa signing and lekky is what other teams get out of 3/4th rounders...

Where are the turtles????

To be fairrr... what has been the quality of the prospects who could actually be developed into anything? We have HoFs and solid NHLers as development coaches, but you can't have shite ingredients for your chicken salad.

Blame the people in charge of the procurement process.

Yup. Always trust your gut.

Damnit, HW just stole my answer! :scowl:

Who have not had quality to work with, and still don’t. At least judge them fairly.

Or they turned mediocre AHL players into decent NHL depth players?

Marginal depth players on the last place team in the league. I can only see one player who has solidly made the transition from Abby to Vancouver and that is Karlsson.

I have asked this question repeatedly over the years and no one can answer it.

"they didn't have anything to work with" - did they not have input on young players? Was the organization that compartmentalized that scouting and player development didn't talk? This is the Scooter/linemate excuse.

"they are heart and sole guys with phenomenal fundamentals, work ethic and character" - true, but how have they transferred that into player development?

I mentioned elsewhere, did they just go with the flow, biting their tongues the past few years as the ship took on water knowing they had the only life raft?
