So no suggestions Mëds? Just complaints?5thhorseman wrote: ↑Wed May 29, 2024 8:00 pmI wouldn't say absolutely no accountability. We have elections.
But I get what you mean. You want accountability to be more immediate or punitive. The ability to recall an MP wouldn't be enough, I gather.
So what's your proposal? How do you allow the courts to hold MPs personally liable in cases such as this, but not when an oil company sues for millions because of a government bill or policy?
Maybe the system is already well-designed, but it's the courts that are at fault for taking 3 years to reach a settlement.

The battle over the cost/reward of the carbon tax and rebate just took another embarrassing turn for the Trudeau Government.
Last week it emerged that the PBO had, in error included the industrial portion of the carbon tax in their analysis show that at the end of the day, the carbon tax was costing most Canadians more than they would receive in rebates. The Liberals briefly jumped all over it and the CBC ran a news piece asking if the PBO should be forced to resign. For his part, the PBO apologized for the error and then demonstrated that industrial portion is negligible and would have little effect on his earlier findings.
Today, the PBO testified at committee that the Trudeau Government had done their own internal study that also confirmed his findings. That report was given to the PBO and they were told that it remain confidential and not be referenced.
Cat is out of the bag, Guilbault and Trudeau knew all along from their own internal studies that the Carbon Tax rebates were less than what most Canadians would be paying.
The PBO has agreed to give the report to the Committee.

The multi party committee with top level security clearance tasked with investigating foreign influence in election has found that a few siting MP's have wittingly and unwittingly cooperated with foreign governments.
Let that sink in.
Sitting MP's have been cooperating with foreign governments to interfere with elections and parliamentary processes.
They also say it was known to the Prime Minister's office. This is the third report that says the PMO knew and did nothing.
Liberal response - it is being referred to the RCMP. That means these MP's continue to sit in parliament.

The Auditor General also releases three reports.
1) McKinsey contracts of the 33 her department sampled, the majority
- were sole sourced.
- awarded without required constraints on why the work was required, what were the deliverables, were the objectives achieved, was there value for money.
McKinsey was run by Liberal and Trudeau buddy who also served as Canada's Ambassador to China and as a a lead financial advisor to the Liberal Government.
2) The Green Energy Fund
- funding went to insiders with little or no scrutiny
- mismanagement was rife
- companies related to the funds directors received a majority of the funding
- the board operated with the required number of directors limiting over sight
The Liberal Government has now announced the fund will be shut down and responsibility transferred the the National Research Council.
3) the CRTC, the RCMP and the Communications Security Establishment has failed in its response to cyber crime. Too many cooks looking at the issue, not talking to one another and resources stretched too thin.
Oh, and today the Parliamentary Committee that announce some sitting MP's are wittingly cooperating with foreign governments also said the Liberals are with holding over 1000 documents
Justice Hogue who conducting the Royal Commission into Election Interference also has the same complaint of documents being with held. The Hogue Inquiry is the one that the Liberals fought hard not to have established and instead had ski buddy Johnston as Special Rapporteur do a white wash.
Now the guy who won't say a word against Hamas is off to France to celebrate the 80th Anniversary of D-Day. Likely no time for a side trip to Poland.

By-election in Liberal stronghold riding of Toronto - St Paul, a seat they had held for over 30 years and most pollsters believed they would again win albeit with a vastly narrowed margin, was lost to the Conservatives last night.
Caroline Bennett had held the seat with +20% margins of victory the past few elections. Even the dark Ignatlief Liberal wipeout, they held the seat by an 8% margin.
A reduced Liberal win by less than 10% was expected to be gloom and doom for Trudeau's leadership. Now they have lost the seat by just under a 2%. margin.
That is a 25% swing in the margin between Conservative and Liberal support in what has been a staunch Liberal stronghold. Apply that across the Toronto area and the Liberals could lose 40 seats in that area.
Sunny ways, sunny ways.

This was equally bad for Jaguar meat and his Rolex bespoke suit commie hoard. They ended up with 11% of the vote, down 5% over the previous election. This is a riding that votes NDP in Provincial elections.
How long does Jaguar meat keep himself chained to the mast of the sinking ship of fools?
