Maybe him and Mrs. Myers are trying to figure out the family situation that would be best for them? Maybe they're sorting out the details as we speak, before he tells mgmt?
His eldest has cerebral palsy. He's only 7 years old.
That is a big reason to stay then I hope he has clearly told the Canucks management about it and then reject the trade.
As someone else said the team can then move him in the off season and if he choses to retire that is his decision or the team can keep him. Really don't care at this time what he decides but good bloody sake Canucks management need to make a decision.
Watch them now say because they spent to much time on this they couldn't do anything else.

Well Monday has come and gone. Nothing doing on the Myers front…..gotta assume he’s said no at this point.

With a normal team, I'd agree with you.... but who the hell knows with this group?

This has been a slow trade deadline so far. 4 trades. 2 2nd round picks and spare parts since the Olympics. The media is in a frenzy. Personally, I am hoping it's Boeser next. I like the person, but we need a new culture, and he ain't it.

In terms of actually being tradeable, Boeser and Garland and Debrusk might need to wait until we have some franchises whiff on the handful of decent UFAs this summer (or even next summer).
I think we're going to see trade values increase while the cap ceiling is jumping (once some GMs realize their options are a trade or signing Anthony Mantha to a 6x6), and that should at least render most of these guys tradeable.. right now, I don't think they are at all.

well, or the Baldies asking prices might be too high.
For all we know, the baldies are listening to the Vancouver Media to establish trade value...
On the flip side of that, the Van media wants to trade away every single person over the age of 25.... like that will work to change the direction of the franchise

Seems to be a lot of talk about regarding the Islanders and Garland today on X.
See where it goes.

I think the question of "what can wee get for who" is the wrong way to do a rebuild.
The correct question should be "What do we want the team to look and play like, and who fits that style of play"
Not sure what the baldies want the team to play like, but if they want a mostly "Plays heavy where everyone plays with pace, work ethic, forechecking".. and add in a couple skill guys (like playoff teams seem to be designed these days) then the only forwards I would keep are Garland and O'Conner (can't get rid of ALL the veterans).. and perhaps Blueger (he plays that 3C role so well!).. and as for the rest of the veteran forwards: Petey, Brock, Debrusk, Chytl, Sassons, Kampf and Kane -- they should all be moved. Ship them out as fast a we can so they can change the damn culture of the team. Our D is pretty much set, just Myers has to go. then the coaches.
At that point, work ethic and effort (on and off the ice) will become the 'new culture'.
But they need the few veterans to lead the way on that, or it will never happen.

Our discussions around here are predicated upon the assumption that these morons have a plan whereas I strongly believe they are just fumbling around in a dementia bender forgetting where they put the milk and shit.
We are totally fucked until they're loaded onto Blob McKenzie's party barge and floated out the Juan De Fuca straight into the blue abyss beyond

This story checks out.

If they made a series about these fucking guys, it would be called Balding Bad.
They started out with great fanfare, being brought in to produce product that would keep the customers hooked and the cash flowing. But batch after batch of inferior meth turned the buyers sober.
The final season sees our two antagonists meet a sad and ignoble end, with no chance of a sequel.

Carl this is entering Mike Milbury levels of bad. They can't seem to make a single move that makes any sense. They somehow can't see shit storms coming in as well as their stoned and old ass fanbase. They're incompetent

Which is why Hronek, Myers, and Garland, were my veteran keeper list for this group. They put in the effort.
On Garland…..it may be that he wants out similar to DeBrusk, if so the team needs to move him now while he can’t control the destination.

Garland.
5 even strength points the past 20 games.
His last goal was Dec 16, empty net.
Before that Nov 26.
Next year big contact big term.

Yeah. Garland isn’t a guy who is going to produce points with the calibre of linemates we see in Vancouver.
He’s just a hard working angry elf. Doesn’t phone it in.
