Demko might have popped his liteus there.
These third tier officiating crews can be a real adventure.

Miller just wouldn't get off the ice in overtime.

Bad read by Miller to stay on. Too gassed to get back.
Unfortunate that Utah was able to tie it on such a pathetic call.
Our weakness is indeed our blueline depth. Hughes must have logged 3:45 of the 4:49. Definitely missing Hronek there in the 3-on-3.
The PP looks better with Garland on the first unit.
EP40…..did he touch the ice more than twice in OT?
OT was very entertaining.

LOL yes. It wasn't just the situation at the end, JT was refusing to get off and gassing earlier on in OT as well.
Was selfish and wound up hurting the team.

I recall when the Rattrain was a thing…..wouldn’t mind riding that one again.

It's up to Rats of course but I'd like to ride the train too. He did get us another point tonight.

Demko with 2 flubbs can wear the loss on that one. The Shelovs-like floater goal to tie should not go in on an NHL goaltender and the OT was really fuck all as well
If you need air...call it in

Nah. He can wear the OT winner, but that’s it.Cousin Strawberry wrote: ↑Thu Dec 19, 2024 6:30 am Demko with 2 flubbs can wear the loss on that one. The Shelovs-like floater goal to tie should not go in on an NHL goaltender and the OT was really fuck all as well
First goal: Hard shot, caught his blocker and dropped to the ice. Demko tracked the rebound well and was moving to cover the it but the puck landed perfectly on Keller’s stick blade at just the right moment for that to transpire.
Second goal: Completely disagree. Nobody is saving that. Cross point pass for a one-timer and the shooter whiffs. The puck floats up and over the far side in a funny arc that Demko couldn’t track through traffic until it’s going past him in the opposite direction than he anticipated or the shooter even intended.
Winner: That’s on him.

(1) First, Demko was very good in the first when the rest of the Canucks were not. I’m thinking, that’s the different between a top starter in the league and a very good backup.Mëds wrote: ↑Thu Dec 19, 2024 6:41 amNah. But then….
(2) The first goal was soft, a very bad rebound on a shot he saw and controls 9/10 times.
(3) The second goal wasn’t soft (it’s a knuckling redeflected shot), but it also wasn’t Demko’s finest hour. What makes him so good is that his net positioning is outstanding and he rarely overplays his side to side pushes (contra, DeSmith). But he overplayed that one. A standard Demko side to side push and he has a chance to react to the deflection. Don’t know if he could have gotten it, but he took himself out of position to have a chance. It’s a technical error, and my guess is Demko—who is committed to good technique—breaks down these mistakes whether they result in goals or not.
(4) OT goal looked straight out of the 80s in terms of goalie awkwardness.
