I imagine they'll bring someone in who has experience with coaching a young, 'up and coming' team. Then in a couple of years, they'll replace him, too...
I think this is good. There was no need for a season of "just got here we are evaluating" posture. Many new players, new management, make it your own. I don't know if Foote's a bad coach, but nothing about him screams greatness. Replacing mediocrity even with mediocrity would still be a step forward because its your chosen mediocrity. Plus, a lot can be learned in the hiring process and the coach you select isn't adjusting to fit your vision, but was selected because he shared it and wants to implement it (and possibly refined it in the process).

In the end Foote is not a good head coach.
He should never have been hired.

I like Manny, I don't hate Caleb, I love the firings in the coaching and scouting staff. Decisive change.
I'm Mr Positivity! A ray of sunshine.

Yeah, I feel like the secret plan is just more nepotism... bringing in the old ex-teammates.
If you truly believe you need the temporary experience to help coach these incoming young guys until they mature, then honestly, you're just shuffling the Foote deck chair for the Manny model.
Foote may or may not deserve this, but if this is indeed the rationale to bring in their buddy... it reeks, imo.
I have no view on whether Manny should be coach. But having experience with someone, as a teammate, in management, coaching on the ice, is not the same thing as being a relative to them. To be sure, you might not get the best guy for the job if you limit recruitment to people you know and have worked with. But knowing and working with people gives you a hell of a lot more pertinent information than interviews and reference calls.

Having not watched, no opinion on Foote
Berube? Cassidy? the chick from Seattle? Manny?
With rookies in senior roles, do you want a steady vet behind the bench or another rookie?

Sure, you could be right but I had hoped that a 57 year old, run down crack house that is the scourge of the neighbourhood would do the complete teardown and renovation instead of just slapping on a new coat of paint.
Might as well hire Burrows as the assistant coach too.

If the players burned Foote in their exit interviews, then I would be in favour of his dismissal. Hopefully this means they will pass on Maholtra at 3, assuming Manny is promoted.
If they want Jr, use the Minny pick and some mi rounders to move up to 5 - 7 and take him then.

You know they will. Manny as HC - heck might as well bring back Baumgartner for his 3rd go-round.

Foote couldn't coach the Rockets, not really sure why he even got a chance at HC. Cost savings I would assume!
Interestingly enough, Burrows i wouldn't mind as a coach in some manner. If there's anyone that can teach a some work ethic he would be the guy!

The Canucks were in please Quinn mode. After Tocchet left Quinn spoke highly about Foote and his relationship with him.
The Rutherford regime really screwed the pooch on the whole Hughes thing.

He was an asinine hire.

I say, just hand out jobs to the 2009-2011 squads.

Bring back Marc Crawford so he can grab a player or 2 by the neck, bring in some tough love.
