One thing several Canucks fans pointed out was that the player on the beer can appears to be a left-hand shot, while Boeser is a righty.
D'oh!
That’s cuz it’s a selfie.

Just watched this. Bizarre in any environment, but a pre-Worlds tune up game? Screams, "Look at me, I'll show that NHLer." Great example of why some teams are cold on internationals; if the event is Bush League in addition to its relative irrelevance (to North Americans), what's the point?

Ever watched the minor-league goon turned beer-league goon who ended Ryan Smyth's second hockey career?

Which twin gets the distinction of sitting on the stool sweating with the well-rehearsed, time-honoured blank, defeated Trevor Linden look on his face as another lottery dream is crushed… and Bill Daly chuckles.

You negative bastards. Do what I do when this team gets you down, and think of our Golden Era between 1926 and 1970. Not a single negative article in the sports archives.

Golden Era? Guess you're confusing it with showers.

Saw this on the interwebs, thought it really interesting. How the teams that have made the 2nd rd. in the playoffs this year aquired their roster:

The vast majority were via trade. Which I didn't expect - draft and develop being the mantra of a good hockey club.
Will be interested at looking at the teams that make the 3rd round, to see which roster construction type moves forward.

What speaks to me a bit about that information is a couple things.
Primarily, first round picks definitely matter. It would be interesting to know how many of those traded players were drafted in the first round as well.
Secondly, yes trades clearly make a difference. However, a team must acquire or draft well enough to have the assets to trade in order to receive quality back.
Vegas is a complete outlier because they were gifted a roster with the expansion draft rules at the time. They've never had to develop anyone, they've had a plethora of assets they gained during that expansion draft to build a contender almost immediately. We won't ever see that again!

No surprise given what we know of picks outside the top of the first round.
Good things happen in Canuck history on this day
