That's OK. Selecting an additional player or three at this year's draft is far more important than a few vets playing 3 meaningless games.

I can’t see it. Detroit is turning some heads, but does anyone think they are actually a contender? They are also in the east and I suspect Myers would prefer to stay in the west.

IMHO, Dallas and Colorado are the likeliest spots he would go to.
Absolutely agree. It may be true that Vancouver has an offer from Detroit that they like but I cannot see Myers waiving together. And if they have an offer they like, that would inspire them to ask him to waive I have to believe it is more than just a 2nd rounder. They can wait until July 1st, have a larger field to play with and get a decent return then.

Not sure if this has changed but no Myers at practice this morning.

Also, it is reported he will travel with the team to Seattle if he hasn’t been traded.

The plan for Myers is to go to Seattle with the team but not play. Apparently he has not said ‘no’ to Detroit yet.

Friedman reporting that the trade to Detroit is not dead. He says that Myers will likely make a final decision before the end of the weekend. The hold up, obviously Detroit is not Myers 1st destination choice, is what happens in the future ( I take that to mean he may want to know if an extension is in the cards?) and, if he waits a few days longer will a team destination he would be more open to increase their offer to a point that the Canucks like the offer. So my read is that only Detroit has made an offer that the Canucks like. The waiting game is to see if someone else steps up before the end of the weekend. Of course the Canucks can trade him to 19 teams after July 1st so he is aware of that and wants to control it as much as possible.

By not coming right out and vetoing the trade Myers is doing the Canucks a solid. I guess he is just hoping someone else matches whatever Detroit has offered. Canucks are not willing to just give him away so if they don't have a deal in place that they like they will wait it out until July. Myers big thing is he doesn't want to move so far away mid season. Perhaps with Detroit he wants to know if they will extend 1-2 years after July???? One last move???

If Myers has marketability post current contract why limit himself to Detroit in the immediate moment?

Depth, experienced RSD are a vendable commodity in this league.

Hell, he can come back here for a short term deal to end his career if he wants.

Myers was born in Texas by the way.....
