Highly doubt we are getting Guentzel, which might end up being a blessing

He’s an Ontarian, not surprised

Skinner on a one year contract after his buyout might be an option for Allvin.

Definitely pursue that on a 1 or 2 year deal. Considering his buyout I'd be willing to go as high as $4M for him. He's still a top-6 forward only 1 year removed from 35G/82P, and so long as Tocchet & Co. think that he can play with full buy-in then getting him fro under $4M leaves room for an asshole with some size up front as well as a top-4 on the blueline.
Edit (adjustment): Just looked at his stat line. While $9M was too much for him and he went off a cliff immediately after signing his big contract, he bounced back and has been a decent goal scorer who can probably contribute 30G/60+P with a guy like Pettersson (should EP40 actually be who Doc thinks he is).....still need a banging net front presence on that line though.

Skinner has never been part of a playoff team.
Tough thing to have staring at you on a resume review.

Really?
Shit. They missed the entire 9 seasons he played in Carolina!

Talk of Yzerman looking to acquire Trouba and the Rags willing to retain 2.5/8.

Winner of the off-season … Calgary. Conscious decision to trade Markstrom and Mangiapane and embracing the tank before what should be two very good drafts before the move into their new building is a solid plan. Their current core sucks and needs to be rebuilt in the draft. Getting any shot at Gavin McKenna in two years is the right plan looking at their line-up.

We should do an over/under on how long it takes before they abandon the rebuild and start trying to buy a roster...
I give it 2, maybe 3 years at the most before the fans start revolting and ownership starts demanding more gate revenues, especially with a 73 cent dollar...
And with regards to the oodles of cap space they currently have, that will get eaten up very quickly as they find that they have to overpay to attract players to sign in Calgary...
Some said way back when that the Canucks return to contender status would take as much as 7 years given how destitue the organization was, I don't see Calgary taking any less than 7 or 8 years unless they get very lucky very soon...
Take care...

I think they plan to get better in three years when they move into their new rink. They’ll only plan to sell off and draft high for a couple seasons. If they collect a bunch of picks and get lucky drafting that should be enough to get a new young core in place.

Yeah, he's a weeny with confidence issues... also 32 and...
Jeff Skinner the last quarter of the season:
22 GP, 5 Goals, 10 Pts, 13:33 TOI/GP
(I stole that from somewhere)
There are reasons they're buying him out and I'll bet he gets a 1 year show-me contract at around $2M.
