First year in Seattle good.
Second a step back.
We are all aware of the term sophomore slump right.
Hmmmm...
Matty Beniers...
Seattle year 1 - 24G 33A
Seattle year 2 - 15G 22A
(....the Kraken are being critiqued for holding THIS player back as well btw...)
The AI description chastises him for not being a "top tier" centre (how many of those are there and what does that mean) then credits him for having a disciplined structured N S game at only 22??!!
AI takes available info and talks like a woman.
I would take on Wright and see what we can get out of him in a NY minute (IF (big if) the Price is Wright).
There is literally zero risk at 3rd year entry level and rfa status upcoming.
If we are not looking at options like this seriously we are not even trying and may as well give the fuck up.
Young top 5 draft picks at a critical position looking for a change and an opportunity to show what they can do??!!

I can't see what we might have that Seattle would want (other than top defense prospects) - but would we trade Brock or DeBrusk for him? Or maybe a conditional 2nd round pick?
Another centre is always good to have, and he would fill in for Chytil at the 8 game mark.
The Jet Woo Era is over.
Re: Re-booted SKYO approved pipe dreams and trade ideas
Yeah....Wright is not coming here (Calgary Chicago maybe)....just off season discussion BS I suppose....
...and yes...we should (imho and for more than 1 reason) trade Brock or DeBrusk for him if that's what they want...
...but that's not what they want.

I would give them D-Petey and an unconditional 2nd rounder for Wright…..for all the reasons Donny states at the top of this page.
Somewhere in NW BC trying (yet again) to trade a(nother) Swede…..

Pass. Maybe sign him as a FA down the road once he grows up. It’s not like he will all of a sudden become part of another team’s core once traded. He’ll join the likes of Taylor Hall and eventually be a middle-six contributor on a contender - likely after a number of trades and/or FA contracts.

Speaking of Chytil, RJ mentioned he had a conversation with ol’ Fil on Wednesday morning. Oh to be a fly on the wall during that chat.

[RJ:]
Hello? (Hello, hello, hello)
Is there anybody in there?
Just nod if you can hear me
Is there anyone home?
Come on (Come on, come on), Fil
I hear you're feeling ill
Well, I can ease your pain
And get you on your skates again
Relax (Relax, relax, relax)
I'll need some information first
Just the basic facts
Can you show me where it hurts?
[Chytil:]
Duh...

Re: Re-booted SKYO approved pipe dreams and trade ideas
Taylor Hall was the 6th highest scoring forward in Carolina last season. That means 2nd line winger. On a team that prioritizes getting on the right side of the puck, punching at above 0.5 ppg is actually good production.Lancer wrote: ↑Sat Jul 11, 2026 11:34 am Pass. In the playoffs Hall contributed 19 points in 19 games with all of his goals coming at even-strength. Only Jackson Blake had more points with 20. Only Aho and Stankhoven had more GWG’s (both with 3 to Hall’s 2). Hall also was a team leading plus-14. The next forward in that category was Ehlers at plus-8.
If Wright is the next Taylor Hall, and he can be had at 22 years of age for a reasonable price, you take that and run.

Yeah.
RightSaidMeds.
All due respect to Lancer but to compare Wright to Taylor Hall (a former MVP with 300 career goals and 800 points) and then say pass is a bit of head scratcher.
Also, as posted last week or earlier this week, critiquing 18 year olds for a lack of maturity (the draft and his hurt feelings is where this gained traction) and then buying into media squawking (which we are quick to chastise as click bate 99% of the time) then using that to paint the kid as an attitude issue I think is also a stretch at this point.
Maybe he is.
Maybe he isn't.
But as stated in my original post our risk (on any palatable deal) is minimal as he is on entry level and rfa next year.
Agree to disagree but I'm never going to understand a defined hard pass on a 22 y/o 4th overall 6 foot 200 pound RS centre based on assumptions and media tripe.
