Gillis has been studying Aussie Rules Football. He wants to implement their modern systems into the NHL. Mike is always thinking outside the box. It’s why he hasn’t worked in the NHL for 7 years. He’s too smart for it.

Don’t blame Mike Gillis for that message board. The mass consumption of paint chips, McDonald’s and huffing of gasoline on that board is right the fuck out of control. It’s the shit pit of Canucks talk. A bunch of neckbeards with little to no athletic coordination gets a gut full of burgers and some cheap drugs and they produce a fuck show like that. It’s sad, but it’s funny as hell.

As a Branch Philipian myself I've always wanted to make a pilgrimage to the volcano before the prince returns...

Those two are just playing the heel role. Sports radio is just like pro wrestling, especially in this town. When TSN lost the Canucks radio broadcast rights they quickly pivoted to become the heel network and became harshly critical of everything Canucks, while upstart SportsNet became the baby faces. Guys like Macrae and Pratt understood this intuitively, that you need a storyline and good guy/bad guy personas to keep people tuned in. If you try to stick to dry sports chat you quickly lose everyone but the nerds.

Vanuatu was a real adventure in those days. I went to a bunch of south pacific island banana republics in the early 90s...loved Fiji and Tonga the most

The prince is a native islander who arose from the local volcano and took the form of a white man to marry the queen and conquer the white man's world for Vanuatu. When he dies he shall return to the volcano and bring with him the riches of the Western world.
