I'm a believer in this. There is something wrong on the team. And maybe it has nothing at all to do with the rumours of JT being an asshole. Maybe it is the regression of a team that played over its head most of last season. They started to believe their own press clippings. Allvin worked so hard last year to fix the defence then let it all go. We will not know until one or two of those involved retire and write a book.
Maybe the room is wondering what loyalty to the team gets them when a key guy in the room who gave his all for his teammates is low balled out of town.

They can see it happening to themselves, Brock is next on the list.

Loyalty and respect are two way streets.

I hadn't thought it was 'most' for what seemed like a long time, but I have followed the board much less closely recently.

When would you say this position reached majority status here?

This one I believe. I’ve often thought that Demko would prefer to be Stateside.

Find a buyer for Demko that makes sense if management thinks Lankie's season is an evolved norm vice aberration. If they believe in Lankinnen, and can get a good complimentary piece in trade for Demko, then it's defensible move.

History has shown me that 2 top caliber goalies are necessary to succeed in the playoffs
Demos not going anywhere....for the time being, but they do need to get Lankinen extended Donald

Some have said that Lankinen's numbers are only good enough to be an elite backup or bottom-12 starter and that the need for keeping Demko is clear because he's a Vezina candidate and one of the best in the game. I agree with the latter, Demko is very very good when he's on his game. However, there's the issue of longevity as well as his "on-ness". He's been Vezina calibre exactly twice in his career. During the Edmonton bubble and last season. He's been hurt plenty.

Lankinen was far better than a bottom-10 starter or elite backup in October and November. His numbers were top-10 actually when the team wasn't an unmitigated disaster. Since just before Demko's return the team has been a slowly progressing dumpster fire, and Demko's numbers sure aren't elite behind this squad.

Of the Cup winning goaltenders going back to 2011, only Vasilevskiy and Quick fit the "elite" goaltender title. Bobrovsky has been up and down his entire career. Elite one season, hot garbage the next. The rest of them are good goaltenders who reliably backstopped teams that boasted a good blueline corps, and a defensive system that all 18 skaters bought into.

Lankinen has definitely shown himself to be as good as Kuemper, Murray, and Crawford. Thomas, Holtby, and Binnington, certainly were not elite outside of their Cup winning years, and Lankinen is their equal at those times.

I'll take Ernie Mclean over Doug every day and I will raise you a Paddy Ginnell. Go catch some fish along with your welfare check, motherfucker.

Thatcher is a hippie Californian goalie. Doug Mclean in his Newfy booze haze probably thinks he's a winger.

Sure did. I watched as our 3rd stringer got the green light over our capable backup and, despite a few big saves, put up rather pedestrian numbers.

Stolarz, Patera, Thompson, Lindgren.....none of them were "top calibre".
