Why Messier over Eriksson?

As I brought up Stevens, I still defend my position. He was a dirty player. I don't care if the rules allowed it. I respect his defense and toughness, but I hate him for his cheap hits.

Actually, I have a healthy hockey hate for several players...

Bolland
Brett Hull. (he leaves his taint on several teams)
Pure, Raw, unadulterated and unbridled hate for Messier
Marchand (the Rat King)
Chelios

I am sure there is more.

.... I think the only hated player I ever got over was Roenick. He is pretty cool, funny as fuck and has no fucks to give.

This world needs more hockey hate. Too many people and teams play tummy sticks now.

Opposing players also hated Roenick!

I've gotta admit I started to respect him over the years for this reason:

NOBODY else ever took as many violent assaults in front of the net as this guy.

But game after game, year after year, every single power play... back he went.

I don't know how many times he got his nose broke, teeth knocked out, huge face gashes

... and was right back out there the very next power play... standing in front of the net.

(for good reason, Roberts could be every bit the dirty asshole Roenick was)

Well yeah, Roenick took that all the time... because that's how hated he was.

That takes toughness, that take a competitive nature of the highest degree.

For a one-leg rancher, he was one tough son of a bitch.

Speaking of a competitive nature, I hated Claude Percy Lemieux.

I still wish Larry Robinson would have gotten Messier the coward to drop his stick. Robinson was very underrated tough. Just ask Dave Schultz. He would have beaten Messier to a pulp.
