I believe Barrie will pull a 2010 Hamhuis (even if a team trades for his rights after the season, he'll still go to UFA).

Seems like one of Tanev/Stecher will get moved or let go....I still see Tryamkin making a move back to Vancouver.
Todd Diamond said via text message. “Vancouver has his [Tryamkin's] exclusive NHL rights, he is familiar with the city, ownership, management and staff, and we will engage in talks after Nikita’s KHL season.
“The team and coaching staff is much different from when Nikita was last in Vancouver and we view that very positively.”
The big Russian defenceman is under contract with the KHL’s Avtomobilist Yekaterinburg through the end of the 2019-20 season.
“Obviously he’s on our reserve list,” Benning said Thursday morning. “Our pro scouts continue to watch and keep tabs on him. When his season is over and his contract is up, I’ll speak with Todd.”
“Nikita is a guy we know can play in the league. He’s a good skater for his size and he can make a good first pass.”

Hey Nikita is it cold
In your little corner of the world?
You could roll around the globe
And never find a warmer soul to know
Oh I saw you by the wall
Ten of your tin soldiers in a row
With eyes that looked like ice on fire
The human heart a captive in the snow
Oh Nikita You will never know anything about my home
I'll never know how good it feels to hold you
Nikita I need you so
Be Good

Well, here's hoping he gets Judd Bracket back on the scouting team.
I don't Know exactly how he fits into the scouting team, or how he fills his role, or any of the particulars.. but I know the results of the scouting team with him on it.
I don't want to 'break up the band, man.'

Looking at the expansion draft if Tryamkin is the real deal again.
Offseason I'd look to package Juolevi, Stecher + cap dump for one top 4 right side dman, by a team needing to shed a RD and need a top 4LD prospect, NYI comes to mind, Canes, maybe ducks.
Protect: (new guy), Myers, Tryamkin.

But I think the 'new guy' will be Barrie, signed as a UFA to $6 x 6.
Tanev leaves looking to cash in.
Stecher traded for a pick at the draft (Baer too).
OJ packaged in a Loui dump (if he decides not to retire).
Protect: Barrie, Myers, Tryamkin.

Yeah, I'm glad we didn't trade a bunch of top prospects for Barrie. He'd prob be just a rental, cost too much to sign and I don't think we really need him anyways. In Quinn we trust, just give him the ice, minutes, puck and eventually the $$$.
Ferraro was thinking of using Demko as a sweetener to get rid of Eriksson, if we resign Marky. They mention that K.Lind might be an option as well.

(around 7:00 mark)
If we're lucky, Loui is considering retiring and he'd be doing the franchise a big solid; he would still have been richly compensated for what he gave us here. If not, I actually wouldn't mind keeping him around for another year (after 2020/21 season) as that's when we'll really need the cap space to re-sign Petey + Hughes. If Loui is on the books for another year, it does hurt our chances to re-sign the trio of Toffoli, Tanev + Marky. Of the 3, I rate Marky the most important, Tanev 2nd and Toffoli 3rd. If they cost too much $$$ or too much term, hell with them, let them walk.
Bearcheese is obviously lower priority. I hope we don't give up anything significant to get rid of his contract. @ $3.3M with only 1 year left, I don't mind burying him the minors again if we have to. Just keep him around for emergency call up again.

Juolevi might fetch a 2nd. SKYO thinks a team will offer up a second 2nd for the Air Thief?
Yeah no.

Re:
Crouse was an 11th overall pick who has had a slow development, slower than Virtanen.Aug 2016: Florida trades Lawson Crouse and Dave Bolland (3yrs x $5.5M left) to the Arizona Coyotes for a third-round draft pick in 2017 and a second-round draft pick in 2018.
A rebuilding team brimming with picks and wanting a more developed blue chip prospect might be enticed to take on Loui's contract with low-salary for a paltry two years.

Given how they shipped out a lot of their vets, and their owner is the biggest cheapskate in the league, I wouldn’t be surprised if Ottawa took on Louie’s contract for a bag of pucks. Even Dorion knows you can’t have a team of nothing but kids.

Not trying to start a fight but I would never to this. He's 29 in July. Roughly the same size as Stecher. Big offensive Numbers but that goes withStrangelove wrote: ↑Wed Feb 26, 2020 3:24 pm

a pretty crappy plus minus.
We have to think about going with younger options and trust we can work them in as they're developed.

Barrie isnt perfect or anything but is far better than hes showing with the crappy leaves. (A true blue, dyed in the wool canuck would never play his best for the leaves!)

I think SKYO is typing while high again.
He meant Juolevi + Eriksson and two 2nd rounders.....just curious what we're getting back though.
Somewhere in NW BC trying (yet again) to trade a(nother) Swede…..

Probably a 7th. Then it makes a bit more sense for the other team. Bolland was on LTIR so it’s not the same situation. And Crouse was a very high pick that was drafted a year previous. Olaf was drafted four years ago and doesn’t have the same value that Crouse had at the time.Mëds wrote: ↑Thu Feb 27, 2020 2:13 amI think SKYO is typing while high again.

Fuck no to Barrie unless the guy is playing for under 5 million per. He gets lit up defensively. You’d never get the value out of the guy when Hughes is going to be the guy manning the point on the PP. If they are letting Tanev walk they had better be making a trade for a long term solid RH d man to parter with Hughes.
