Speaking of rolling joints….

For shits and giggles, if there are stoners in the dressing room who would they be??

And you can’t take the easy shot with Boeser. :P

Myers, definitely. Big Tex. Lives in Kelowna, his interviews are always too positive for the quality of play from the Canucks. And that giggle.

Demko - for medical reasons.
Sherwood - I mean with a name like Kiefer.
Kane - well because, well, ummm, yeah…..
Garland - was, now on the wagon…..why he’s so angry now
Petey - it’s a brand thing…..

Sammy Blais. It's right in his damned name. Management puff, puff, passed on Blais.

Myers definitely. He would likely be hilarious on a good sativa.

Jake definitely gives off a bit of a stoner vibe. I mean, the guy collects Pokemons so odds are he's not "Pabst Blue Ribbon or a Rum&Coke after the game" kind of guy.

Kane likely dabbles but probably thinks it's too low-rent in terms of vices.

Demmer probably hits the medical-grade stuff out of necessity, a Mëds says.

Brock looks like he could have been pulled out off the set of "Dazed and Confused"

Garly seems too old-school Irish; likely a whiskey guy who instigated fights after a couple in his younger days but is a dad now.

Kiefer... yeah... but can you even imagine a chilled-out relaxed Sherwood?? He looks like his mom had him on a treadmill in his youth just to burn the energy off him (and contribute to the electrical grid in the process).

If Petey's on anything, it's likely anti-depressants he stole from Hughes.

I know +/- isn't a great stat for precise evaluation of a player, but I always do look at it as a trend or relative measurement within a team.

MP29 gets a lot of flak on this board, and I'm not sure why - he is exactly as advertised to me, a good stay at home 2nd pairing defensemen with a super reasonable contract. Acquisition price aside. These are the types of players that you build a solid team depth with.

His defensive partners aren't all world by any stretch of the imagination, starting the year with Myers - who, this year, has been one of the worst Canucks defenders. Then with a lot of youth, yet he still shows on the positive side (or null?) of the goals for/against. Van's D is very young, with a terrible elder who is showing signs of his age.

Hronek carries the mail in every zone. Hopefully Buium will turn into something similar to a Miro Heiskanen for us, and if Willander continues - maybe a Devon Toews type? The pieces can then fall into place.

A top 4, of Hronek, Buium, Willander and MP29 is a pretty good start to a rebuild. DPetey seems to be in some sort of Coach's doghouse - but I see a player there. Not hard to assume a bottom pairing, shut down type role at the very least.

Keep Myers on for his last year, to keep the tank moving in the right direction in year 2. Then hopefully draft his replacement (Verhoeff?). And suddenly that D looks pretty damn solid, eventually putting the pieces in their places in years 3-4. With Buium playing 24+mins per game, MP29 and EP25 will be playing a role better suited to them, and on the kill. And that right side, could be amazing. Down the road, Verhoeff takes top spot - Willander 2nd pairing and Hronek the ageless vet anchoring the third.

Buium - Hronek
MP29 - Verhoeff
EP25 - Willander

Good post JPP.

We also have the Kudy kid and Mancini in Abby.

And I agree on the top 4 you post as being potentially high quality and a foundation for rebuild.

Who is hard on MP other than Dude?

I honestly don't recall.

I think that was more about what he deemed as poor asset management than an overall disdain for the player?

The only shitty thing about his contract is the NMC. It does transition to a M-NTC for the last two years though.

I don’t thing he’s been as good as expected. Puck luck is a factor (for the entire team this season), but there have been Edler-level head scratchers from him this year. I agree, playing with Myers has not been helpful for him.
Buium - Hronek
MP29 - Verhoeff
EP25 - Willander
By the time a drafted player is ready, for effective regular top-4 minutes, Pettersson will be 33…..I think the better outcome for that grouping would be Willander maturing and developing into an offensive D-man to pair with Metey’s reputed defensive smarts.

Also worth pointing out that all of our blueliners are suffering this year in a more exposed way because of the terrible forward group. The lack of a true 1C, and Petey playing like a defensively astute 2C without effective complimentary wingers, is resulting in the ice being very tilted and our blueline is having to fight an uphill battle too often.

Hronek is in beast mode. Up until this season I don’t think any of us appreciated the bargain contract we got when he extended.

It's non-anomalous with you so you don't count....

I agree on Hronek...he's been fantastic.

Ouch.

I actually haven’t been overly hard on him outside of not loving the NMC he was given.

Given the way we tend to get caved in in front of our goaltenders, I would prefer some Hatcher-requesting crease clearing beef on the 2nd and 3rd pairings.

Hmm... I could be mistaking the sentiment of trading a 1st for him, when we weren't a contending team as being hard on the player - or maybe Dude, because he posts so often, and so repetitively, perhaps mistook that for a general sentiment.

But as Mëds said, there have been some posters pointing out (rightly so) that his mistakes, when he makes them, are of a head-scratching variety. Though, also to Mëds point - likely more due to the fact that he has no outlet to relieve the pressure, as we only have one real centermen on the team at a time.

The point still is valid, he is a valuable depth piece - that I think contributes above his contract. I don't care about NMC or anything like that - as I think he will fulfill the terms admirably.

Just trying to get excited for a "quick" rebuild hopefully, drafting some high talent that gets to their potential, and fingers crossed, some lower picks that perform above.
