The Dallas angle is a strong angle. Hughes going to the Central division puts pressure on the competition with Colorado as a dark horse in the Sherwood sweepstakes although they’ve pretty much bled the pipeline dry. Dallas definitely, they’ve seen the Sherwood tapes on how much of a menace he was against the Canucks when in Nashville those playoffs, especially on Hughes. Dallas has the better assets to make it happen than Colorado.Megaterio Llamas wrote: ↑Wed Dec 24, 2025 7:40 am LeBrun had Sherwood going to Dallas in a little exercise they did on The Athletic that was published this morning.
Chris Johnston had him going to Boston.
What trades do you think will actually happen this season?

I imagine that of those teams willing to move one of their firsts it will come with conditions in that the higher of the two will be protected. I’m ok with that.Tciso wrote: ↑Wed Dec 24, 2025 8:10 amBoston it is. Boston had Toronto’s first
NYR has a first from Dallas
NYI has Colorado’s first.

Lebrun says the Stars have already kicked the tires on Sherwood. It doesn't surprise me, if true.Chef Boi RD wrote: ↑Wed Dec 24, 2025 8:13 amThe Dallas angle is a strong angle. Yeah, wouldn’t surprise me if Vancouver is holding out for the ‘higher value’ of the two.Chef Boi RD wrote: ↑Wed Dec 24, 2025 8:15 amI imagine that of those teams willing to move one of their firsts it will come with conditions in that the higher of the two will be protected. Dallas doesn’t own a first round pick in 2026. So it would have to be a prospect or young player. Bourque, Bischel or Hemming.Megaterio Llamas wrote: ↑Wed Dec 24, 2025 8:39 amLebrun says the Stars have already kicked the tires on Sherwood. I just voted for Sherwood, as I see him as the top target for other teams.
If Kane walks - it's not great loss, FA in 4th round pick, FA out. Not sure he's proven himself to be an asset to a playoff team. (same goes for the other UFAs - we might trade 1, possibly 2 for a 4th or lower.
I'd like to see Garland stick here, as he's got the work ethic to inspire the kids. It would be a mistake to move him IMO.
Other than that - I don't see either goalie moving, Lankinen has his contract, Demko has his history.
There may be a NMC waive and a trade on a guy like Myers who wants to try for a Cup.

Oh, I didn't realize that, too bad. I would have preferred a late first to Maverick Bourque myself.Chef Boi RD wrote: ↑Wed Dec 24, 2025 8:46 amDallas doesn’t own a first round pick in 2026. Sherwood is The Athletic's number 2 player on their board behind only Rasmus Andersson, btw.

Kanes play has been measurably better of late.
I believe he is our top point accumulator in the past 4 weeks.
I also believe he is on pace for 42 over 82 currently.
He is making a case for himself as a 3rd/4th liner for a team with post season aspirations.

Trade Sherwood/Kane and you have to keep Garland.
No one really wants Boeser who hasn't scored since Nov 28th and since then has only 1 assist. Debrusk has 1 goal since Nov 17th, again who would want him unless the Canucks retain a % of his salary.

He's done it quietly, then, and being our top point getter for a stretch isn't a big accomplishment.
I've set aside my Canuck-coloured glasses, so maybe I'll just have to focus better to see what trade bait we have left.

We need to keep lame-o’s DeBrusk and Boeser because their great contributions are playing a vital role in keeping us in the basement.

Yeah Megs, definitely would rather a first round pick than a low ceiling middle of the lineup player like Bourque. For all that there is to like about him, he’s a career bottom 6 player.
