I agree anyone saying they'd only pay him less than this should expect him to not be on the team next year. He's not a little things player who's contributions are mostly seen by Canucks fans.. his goods are all over the highlight reels for everyone in the league to take notice on.

Agree and also agree to get er done. Don't wait for Hronek to sign, his importance to the franchise is lessening by the game

I havn't loved Hronek's game but I think people are all forgetting how hard it is to get a top line right D

Probably equally as difficult as finding 6'6 250 lb war horses that can fly...

I wouldn't fuck around and risk losing big Zed. He's a cornerstone level asset in my eyes

I’m liking the Big Z more than I’m liking Hronek. Not sure Allvin agrees though, he’s not going to bail on his expensive Hronek acquisition now.

Hronek is a good player. Send him to the Sharks for Pittsburgh’s pick. He’s a 26 year old RH shot that can run a PP. They need to get Will Smith and Macklin some help down there. Grier can’t spin his wheels forever. He has some nice young blue chips. Hronek would fit there like a glove. See if you can shove Miky into the deal. Allvin and Rutherford are proactive if nothing else.

Sign Demelo or Tanev to bridge the gap to Wilander. Let Cole walk. Re-up Myers for 3.25 X 2. Hronek won’t get the pp time here to justify a 7 million dollar hit. Pay Big Z 6 x 5 years. We finally get some size and some fucking chutzpah. Bring him back.

Fine, give him $4M x 8 then.

If his game goes to shit years down the road, there are ways to get rid of these contracts. :mex:

I like this line off thinking, Doyle. I’d take a swing at the troubled Zegras for a reclamation project. The marriage in Anaheim ain’t good and is apparently coming to a head. The Ducks got a boat load of good young forwards McTavish, Carlsson and the French Canadian turned American Cutter Gauthier, so they could stand to lose the malcontent. Americans love Vancouver and Zegras may love the market. The Ducks are tired of being bottom feeders.

I just love Z’s game right now. He plays like a rush end on skates. People have their head on a swivel when he’s out there. He is tough, fast, mean, and has a bomb of a shot. He’s loved by his mates and the coaching staff. Him, Mysie and Soucy are half a good defence. Cole was a good stopgap. Good soldier. They need to go with the Redwoods on D other than Hughes and maybe another guy. This team is very close. Dakota also needs to come back. This team gave him his shot. I just want ten more wins. We all could use it. 30 years after my favorite iteration for of this team got skullfucked by Terry Gregson.

I agree Blob, I want players who rise to the occasion come post season. These players come to mind - Miller, Boeser, Zadorov, Garland, Lindholm, Joshua, Hughes and Silovs. I’m not sure of Pettersson anymore and Hronek’s play down the stretch and in these playoffs which isn’t flattering for him has given me thought that maybe we move him out the way Stevie Y did and put that money elsewhere - Zadorov, Joshua or Lindholm.

Hronek you obviously have to sign if there isn't a trade on the table, although I'd be looking far and wide for a deal frankly. Certainly wouldn't want to give him any significant trade protection either, maybe a 5 team no-go list.

Silovs is a given.

Joshua/Zadorov, to a lesser extent Myers.. totally depends on where the bargaining is at. I'd re-sign them all if possible but hope to get Joshua on a Burrows-y contract (4 years $8m) where he gets some security and a respectable AAV but there's value for us even if he doesn't keep scoring. He'll probably get more elsewhere. Zadorov, my heart is with Blob on this one you just hope the last year or two of a deal like that isn't ugly. Myers would need to take a paycut but if he's happy here I don't mind having him slide down the depth chart for a couple more twilight years.

I'd love to keep Lindholm but that's probably a pipe dream.

After that, I'd take Blueger ahead of anyone else but any of them would have to be on good value deals for the team, even Blueger could be capably replaced by Suter for next year and hopefuly Aman is a good bottom six center by the time his deal is up.

My two cents...if you think the team is at the point of being a perennial playoff team then I think you have to priortize the Sergio Momesso type of players....

Sergio was asleep most of the regular seasons but came alive as a force once the playoffs started...

Zedorov and Joshua would my prioritites and then I think when it comes to the Bluegers and Lafferty's and those type of players you have to think who in the system is ready to step up and bring the teams average salary costs down in order to find $ to sign more expensive free agents...

Pods and Karlsson are the obvious ones, but Sassons and Raty are on the door steps and if they resign Woo it will because they think he is ready to play NHL minutes...

Hronek is interesting because do you resign him long term with Wilander a year or two away from making the jump?

IF Silovos continues to have a good playoffs, would the team consider moving on from Demko? We saw which way Rutherford went when when faced with a Murray or Flury decision....

Take care...

All interesting to think about for sure. Ideally, nobody counts their chickens before they're hatched.. that means no assuming Willander is a legit NHL guy in 2 years, no assuming Silovs means we don't need Demko, no assuming Demko stays healthy for that matter.

But Allvin will be GM'ing with one arm behind his back with $2.3m (and then $4.7m the following two years) of OEL's buyout on the books, so I expect we'll be cutting corners somewhere.

I agree though, with our core (other than Miller) we need the Momesso types.

Ontario’s Frank Saravalli the Canuck Hater, he’s the new version of Damien Cox thinks Zadorov will be asking $6 million per over 6 years and I think he will get it, so consider him gonzo.

Allvin is going to extend Hronek, don’t see a world where he doesn’t.

I believe Myers will be retained

Lindholm is having a good playoffs and will get a huge contract that like Zadorov will be too rich for our blood.

Joshua I believe will be retained

DeSmith let go. Silovs becomes the new back up

Lafferty, Suter and Cole let go

Podkolzin will become a regular with Lekkerimaki and Raty bouncing between here and Abbotsford.

D-Pete will cook the year in Abby

The Canucks will hit the UFA market for a low cost top 6 winger, 2nd pair left side D-man to replace Zadorov and a Cole replacement on 3rd pairing unless D-Pete surprises, non of the tweeners like McWard and that Asian kid impress me. Woo is over. Blueger stays 3rd line centre with Raty spotting in with Aman if he stays at 4th line centre. Karlsson if he stays will get more looks as well as Bains. Di Giuseppe stays as the 13th/14th forward.

They trade Mikheyev somehow

I would like to see Alvin tap Carolina’s off-season conundrums like Necas to solve the top 6 winger issue, but Necas creates a log jam at right wing - Boeser, Garland, Lekkerimaki and LS right winger - Podkozlin so I don’t think he’s a target even though the pundits are saying Carolina will move the RFA Necas. Also Seth Jarvis is going to get a huge pay raise this summer so I believe that forces Carolina’s hand to move Necas.

Still dreaming of the possibility of signing Vancouver boy the UFA Sam Reinhart but don’t think that’s happening. Him and Petey have similar wavelengths and I believe would form a great line
