I see that Putin's attempts to undermine the credibility of western democratic institutions are working.
They've gotten to you too. So sad.
Actually this poll make sense. Remember that neither candidate from the major political parties in the US reached a 50% approval rate before the election. People didn't vote for a candidate they liked, but for the candidate they disliked less, and Hillary actually won the popular vote. An approval rate somewhere below 40 seems logical.

Per, it's no use trying to reason with the Trumpets. They will just spout more shit.
Trump is a big proponent of fake news. Birther-ism pretty much made him, politically. He doesn't need the truth, like any fascist, the truth is what he says it is. Doc knows this. He says these things for a reaction, to get under your skin. In some circles that makes you a troll, in others it makes you moderator, hell, sometimes it makes you President.

Terrible. Awful. Overrated. Sad. Guess he cannot help the fact he was born fucked up.
With that short, brilliant speech, The President took a flame thrower to the lace curtains of "Hope" and "Change" that his predecessor waxed so poetically about while doing absolutely nothing. The President may not be anywhere near the orator his predecessor was, and few are, but it is refreshing to hear some one speak with the emphasis on Correct instead of Politically.

Middle school students running for class president write a better speeches. He literally promised to cure disease for all mankind.
Rusted out factories scattered like tombstones. If he wants to bring those jobs back he'll have to fire the robots that took them.
Generally, you find a lot of prejudice in patriotism.
If he's gonna rip off a Batman villain he should've picked the Joker. A Ledger cocktail would save us from this twit.
Watching that speech was enough American Carnage for me.
About the only thing going for him is the take-down of the PC/safe space crowd. High price to pay for that.

Flamethrower? More like he put a different coat of paint on it.
He blames the government (and rightly so) - but ignores the billionaire class and large corporations that have made short term profit the goal over long term success and concern for the working consumer class.
The speech reminds me of something that would have been said after 9/11. It's another 'you are either with us or against us' and continues the rabid, blind patriotism of post 9//11 America.
-----
"For too long, a small group in our nation’s capital has reaped the rewards of government while the people have borne the cost.
Washington flourished – but the people did not share in its wealth.
Politicians prospered – but the jobs left, and the factories closed."
Blames the government, not the rich and powerful that control the government.
"The forgotten men and women of our country will be forgotten no longer.
Everyone is listening to you now.
You came by the tens of millions to become part of a historic movement the likes of which the world has never seen before."
Can this man say anything without gross exaggeration?
"But for too many of our citizens, a different reality exists: Mothers and children trapped in poverty in our inner cities; rusted-out factories scattered like tombstones across the landscape of our nation; an education system, flush with cash, but which leaves our young and beautiful students deprived of knowledge; and the crime and gangs and drugs that have stolen too many lives and robbed our country of so much unrealized potential.
This American carnage stops right here and stops right now."
This is the part that seems to be getting a lot of attention. What plan does he have to 'stop' the "carnage"? He's picked a clueless nominee to run the Dept of Education - which is the root of much of the success or failure that leads to progress, growth and wealth or crime, drugs and hopelessness.
"From this day forward, a new vision will govern our land.
From this moment on, it’s going to be America First.
Every decision on trade, on taxes, on immigration, on foreign affairs, will be made to benefit American workers and American families."
Trump products will now be made in the USA? Let him lead by example.
------
If this man can go a a day without lying, exaggerating or insulting his fellow countrymen that he seems to love so much I could almost buy into this bullshit speech. Not as much a Topper (and likely Doc) have, but for now I still see no reason to expect this narcissistic, lying billionaire to have the best interests of the majority of Americans as his priority when he has done nothing in the previous 70 years to prove otherwise.

I love that The President singled her and Bill out at the luncheon in his honour. Such a thoughtful way to feed the Clinton's their lunch.
