Well ya can't trade Brock just yet, he's on a team friendly contract, only almost 23, he just needs to get healthy is all, he's been beat up all over his body though:

Injuries in 3 seasons:

-Ribs
-Groin
-Back (severe-accidental) (been almost 2 years now, so that's good to fully heal up).
-Hand
-Foot

He just needs a bit more pads/protection on his sami salo bod. Hasn't had a devasting knee injury or concussion *knock on wood* so it's safe to say he'll rebound again and be a 60pt guy with some career seasons yet ahead.


If you want a Tanev replacement, I'd be looking to package up Virtanen + Stecher type deal for a Brandon Carlo/Josh Manson type to play beside Hughes.

That 'team friendly" contract of Brock's looks more like fair value.

Ya, that's everywhere now. I wont like that one. Really bad defensively this year. Think of him as a little more wiling to fight then Jake,

Well you see the battles in the playoffs, we could use someone of Simmonds strength.

That Bruins vs Blues Cup final was fucking nasty, brutal hits and battles to the death.

Everyone is so keen on possession metrics, but when the chips are down you need warriors in the heat of the battle. It's been one of the Canucks weaknesses for a long time now being a pushover team. He can be our Patrick Maroon sorta type on the 3rd line.

If you can snag Simmonds for cheap, I say why not.

Gaudette's name is bouncing around. Hopefully the only truth to this is, teams have been calling for Gaudette but Benning has been hanging up. Makes no sense since we moved Madden as well.

Only makes sense if we’re getting a young top 4 right shot dman back in trade. Could make sense if we’re moving stetcher and him for that. I think it’s just media types trying for clicks.

Simmonds is a Schaller replacement. A guy that can slide in the bottom six, maybe bottom nine if we are desperate, that is a heavy body. Built for playoff tough. First round is a knock em sock em round and you need bodies that hit, punish Dmen. He would only be insurance. Adds experience. As long as we are not giving too much I'd be fine to add him. Cap will be fine until playoffs start then you add Boeser back onto the roster. But we all know that Benning targets a guy he wants and will overpay. Hopefully this time not by much.

Simmonds is 185 lbs and stringy. He’s tough but he isn’t a big guy.
