Just Not ready

The primary goal of this site is to provide mature, meaningful discussion about the Vancouver Canucks. However, we all need a break some time so this forum is basically for anything off-topic, off the wall, or to just get something off your chest! This forum is named after poster Creeper, who passed away in July of 2011 and was a long time member of the Canucks message board community.

U.S. Will Send 300 Tren de Aragua Gangsters to El Salvador — They Now Face a Fate Worse Than Death

Hundreds of Venezuelan gangsters are facing a fate worse than death in one of the world’s most notorious prisons.

300 members of the Venezuelan transnational gang, Tren de Aragua, will be deported from the United States to El Salvador as part of a $6 million agreement between the two countries.

These violent gangsters will now be transferred to El Salvador’s mega-prison, Terrorism Confinement Center (CECOT), which houses 40,000 inmates in some of the most brutal conditions in the world.

Do we want to rely on the US for spare parts? They don't seem to be a reliable ally anymore.

Portugal has already made a decision to move away from F-35s.

I think they would be reliable if we were pulling our weight in an alliance and independently economically strong.

Carney to visit the UK and France for first foreign trip.

Great. Let's fuck off and continue the jet-setting that was so popular with his predecessor.

The UK has now declared war on free speech in other countries.

Why the hell would we want to strengthen the ties there over the US is beyond me.

So Trump sent a violent gang of Venezuelan transvestites to El Salvador? Makes no sense. Why not send them to Whitehorse or Yellowknife? Or the DTES so the Dude can mix it up a bit.

Because the US is trying to collapse our Economy, so they can annex us - and make Canada the 51st state.

Reason enough for me.

Good point Jello, he walked into that one...

Not to mention the attacks on free speech happening in the US which are pretty shocking...

I like the idea of Carney meeting with the 6th and 7th largest economies in the world to discuss strengthening and increasing trade agreements and defence issues, wonder why a meeting with Germany is not on the trip?

I'd be all for meeting with our Asian allies and even consider a meeting with China before meeting with Trump...

The more Trump and the Americans see the rest of the world moving on without them, the more they lose leverage and panic begins to set in...

Meanwhile back at home, Freeland who by all accounts has a good working relationship with most of the Premiers can meet with them to discuss strategy and co ordinated responses to the tariff war...

Smart move by Carney...

2Fingers wrote: Sat Mar 15, 2025 5:32 pm Trump is gone in 4 years, the F-35 jet will still be flying while the rest of are long gone. Also the F-35 allows full integration with NATO that the other planes don’t have.

After multiple governments fucking this up it’s time to move on and get the new planes. It’s bigger than Trump.
The concern with the F-35s is that they run self diagnostic software which is connected to Lockheed Martin and the pentagon in real time. So the pentagon has immediate access to all information of what the plane is doing or attempting to do. It is widely suspected that the pentagon could shut them down mid flight if they want to. Now, as long as everyone thought of the US as a trustworthy ally, this was not a problem.

Now that the US president is threatening several traditional friends and allies and making territorial claims against them, people are starting to get concerned that it may be naive to rely on American controlled aircraft.

It’s not just Portugal and Canada. Germany, Finland, Denmark and Switzerland are also discussing backing out of F35 contracts.

Incidentally, the stock I have in SAAB seems to be doing quite well at the moment. :)

Well, many claim that of all Trump hires, no one has had the same level of experience and qualification for the position offered as she had for hers.
