They were and Larionov still had a lot of mileage left on him, he played over 10 more seasons in the NHL. Imagine Larionov and Bure together for even 3 or 4 more years?Strangelove wrote: ↑Thu Jun 11, 2020 2:56 pmYup, I've always thought The Professor would have made the difference.Curmudgeon wrote: ↑Thu Jun 11, 2020 8:22 amYes, so disappointing at the time and especially a couple years later when they went to the Finals. His first couple years here were tough but the season Bure joined the team really turned the corner and Larionov was a big part of it. Rolling out Larionov/Bure/Adams and Ronning/Linden/Courtnall in the top 6 would have been good. I remember thinking he would have made the difference while watching the Rangers series and thought the same way in 2011 reflecting on how Mattias Ohlund and Willie Mitchell could have helped handle the Bruins.
He and Bure were magic together...

Re: Past Canuck Players
That's a great spot, you're so lucky. I stayed at Deka a couple times and could have bought the place when my co-worker sold it but I kind of dropped the ball there. Perfect country for quading and boating. I looked at a place on Higgins nearby too and stayed at Sulphurous a couple times. Winters would be harsh. I only went to the Rona once, looks like the do a booming business. I remember the Sheridan store used to have a boat draw every year, anybody ever actually win a boat from there?Doyle Hargraves wrote: ↑Thu Jun 11, 2020 3:28 pmWe have a cabin on Deka. Good fishing up there even though I’m not much of a fisherman. My buddy slays that lake, he’s been on the B.C. fishing show a couple times with Mike Mitchell. Owns a big fishing/hunting online store in Mission. I’m more into just boating and quading... it’s a great country six months out of the year. The winters aren’t for me.Curmudgeon wrote: ↑Thu Jun 11, 2020 12:49 pmI don't, wish I did though. For a number of years I was spending at least 3 weeks a year up there staying at Fawn Lake Resort in one of the three modern cabins and fishing the general area. We stopped fishing Fawn, it was fished out lunker wise, but still stayed there. I remember going to Interlakes plenty of times when the old store was there and long before Rona was put in. We'd head to the Iron Horse Pub a few times each trip too, food doesn't seem as good after the ownership change. I missed a few years and went up last year and stayed at a B&B not far from Irish. Some big fish in that lake. We were kamikaze fishermen, pack enough food, water, beer, and a thermos with coffee and Bailey's to last a whole day in the boat or float tube. lol. Do you have a place up there?Doyle Hargraves wrote: ↑Thu Jun 11, 2020 9:17 amLol. Tom Fergus played, what another 30 games for the team?
Funny you bring up the Rona. I had a massive falling out with the owner. I won’t even go buy a nail off him now. I’ll drive to 100 mile out of spite. He’s a fucking vulture. Similar to the guy who owned the Interlakes store and the Sheridan store. They had a monopoly. Fortunately the store has been bought by the East Indians. Longer hours, more shit, but still crappy prices. I try to bring up as much food and booze as I can but still support the local economy

Re: Past Canuck Players
Unsure of the Sheridan boat draw. Deka has an annual fishing derby and they raffle off the odd boat and dirt bike here and there on the August long weekend. I’m heading up for the first time in two weeks. Looking forward to going up as it will be our first trip of the year. Last year my first trip up was to deal with some asshole breaking into the place. That’s a shitty thing to go into when your stuff is scattered from here to there and doors kicked in. I guess that’s what insurance is for. It happened to be the one year where I left a lot of tools and gear up there.

Another player finding a place to apply his trade.vorky@vorkywh24
According to Ufa based website http://Gorobzor.ru, it should be a two-year contract for Markus Granlund with ₽70M salary/season including bonuses. It is around $1M or €900k. #KHL
Going to see more of this I think.

The Old Western Hockey League Facebook page is worth checking out for any fellow old timers here or really anyone interested in the heritage of the team. The comment section is filled with old time fans, players and their relatives.
The celebration is on! The Vancouver Canucks drink from the Lester Patrick Cup following their sweep of the Portland Buckaroos in the 1969 WHL championship playoffs. Happy Canucks from L to R are: Bryan Hextall, Bob Lemieux, Andy Bathgate, Len Lunde, Bob Barlow, Darryl Sly, Marc Reaume, and Ted McKaskill.
