They have turned over their roster completely since the initial expansion. And did it very well.
Yeah, agree Jello.
Another well managed professionally owned team. They go about it differently than most, yet still get it done with an obvious very high ratio of success.
No hanging on to players past prime because it would hurt feelings to move them and not afraid to piss off the world by acquiring whomever, whenever.
I am waiting on the inevitable high end offer sheet being the next shock and awe move for this group.....
...were we only so lucky.
I'm sure Hank, Dank and RJ (sounds like the local soda shop street corner gang from Leave it to Beaver) will rank right up there with similar balls to the wall, take no prisoners, no holds barred gutsy moves (once everyone in the locker room hugs it out first of course)....

The Cap circumvention also helped them tremendously. I thought they would fall off this year not being able to utilize that loop hole.
But you have to hand it to them. When a high value player is available they make room. Stone, Eichel, Mariner come to mind. Even if they have to tamper they will get it done.
You have to believe that they will make room for a McDavid or Matthews when the time comes, or gawd forbid find a way to get them both.

Hanifin Hertl Andersson Pieterangelo.....
And willing to face the heat and sign a guy like Carter Hart who has a .917 sv % and 2.37 gaa this post season while winning 2 series.
....and a middle finger to all while canning Cassidy and hiring Torts at season end.
Zero fear...

Not true.
They still have Karlsson and Theodore from that initial roster.

Mark Stone has played more than 60 games 3 times in the past 9 years.
He's still an effective player, but with only one year remaining on his contract I think there is no question that they will have room for McDavid or Matthews.....
I would bet that Matthews reunites with his buddy Mitch at the trade deadline next season.

Speaking of Lane Hutson this is what the Habs have done with their core contracts:
Hutson 8.85 to 2034
Suzuki 7.88 to 2030
Caulfield 7.85 to 2031
Slafkovsky 7.60 to 2033
Dobson 9.5 to 2030
Yo NFG's.
Take heed.
That's some stellar, stone cold GM'ing right there.
Watch for them to tie up Demidov long term in short order.

Leaps of faith or guys who know what they're doing.
Would have could have should have.
Proof is in the pudding.
My guess is Kent Hughes doesn't sign ScooterDoodle to anything close to what he got from our hillbillies.
Caulfield 53 goals 84 points in 123 games before signing deal.
Hutson we talked about.
Suzuki 41 41 61 points prior to deal...visible upwards trajectory stats wise and optically.
Slafovsky (20G 30A year before signing) I will agree with you on stats wise but there was growth in his on ice game that made it worthwhile.
Slick management of talent.

By comparison, I recall stories relating that management wanted Petey to commit more to being a professional as part of them giving him his mega-deal. Safe to say, Eeyore has yet to hold up his end of the bargain - who knows if the Dickless Fuck ever will?
Lesson here is don't offer the big contract if it depends on conditions that have yet to be met by the player. If there are any doubts, ship the fucker out. You could say that Hughes & Co. in Montreal knew that already.

The only one that may be a smidge high is Dobson. I say that only because he’s been a bit inconsistent, so you might have a big, mobile, 70 point RHD, or you might have a 40 point guy. A comparable cap hit is Darnel Nurse, however Dobson seems to possess a mile or two more in the IQ department, so it’s far from egregious…..it also runs to 2033 (not sure if dat dere was a typo Donny) which actually makes it a better investment with a rising cap.
Take heed indeed.

I would add to (preface) that: slick acquisition of talent.

If TFG’s had subscribed to that very sensible bit of wisdom, we would have had Necas and a 1st rounder…..and that 1st could have been flipped with something else for a pivot.
Imagine having Necas and a 20/60 2C behind Brock and JT in those playoffs instead of Mr. Phantom Knee Injury.

Bettman so badly wanted to be the first Big 4 team in Vegas that they just let the Knights run amok.
