We've been very fortunate to have had Rollie and Clark (x2) as goalie coaches.

He deserves it and I wish him well, just not too well. No way Benning could have, or should have, offered 6x6, or 7, with a full NMC. The team has groomed Demko for this moment. I'm ok with Holtby as the mentor/backup for next year and probably the one after as I doubt he is selected by Seattle. Its Demko time!!
And to Benning bashers, no, this has nothing to do with our cap problems but everything to do with expansion and the development of Demko.
...he's looking for a retirement-style contract?![]()

Yes, he worked extra time with Ian Clark. So when he starts letting in the first shot of the game for the 5th consecutive game and the boo birds come out in Calgary who will Marky turn too now??

Have to think Holtby will really benefit from that. The five years prior to this past season he had played 66, 77, 76, 78, and 86 games including the playoffs so the extra intermittent rest over the past several months and a change of scenery where he's platooning a bit more along with working with Clark should bode well for him and the team.Hockey Widow wrote: ↑Fri Oct 09, 2020 3:00 pm When Markstrom gets into a bad funk how did he get out of it????

Good for Markstrom getting paid, glad the Canucks didn't do it, but Calgary has been a goalie graveyard since Kipper so no pressure or anything.

When I see what Shattenkirk and Gudas just got I can’t help but think that we missed out there. Shattenkirk is right on par, and honestly a little underpaid in a normal cap climate.
Gudas @ $2.5M per is a bargain.
They both lower the bar on Tanev. Hopefully from Rutherford’s perspective too.

Somewhere in NW BC trying (yet again) to trade a(nother) Swede…..

There are a lot more and better reasons to go after Pietrangelo than OEL now

Question is do we have "go after" money? I'd much rather chase AP over OEL but OEL came with the stip that they take one of our bad contracts away, which isn't possible with AP. Benning all but said moving money out is pretty much impossible. I suppose not retaining any of our big 3 UFA's affords a bit of flexibility for a big fish signing but me thinks AP is just too darn big of a fish to obtain. He'd be perfect though.

The question is... does he want to pay the price?
No doubt he could pull the trigger on something IF AP is interested in signing here.
That picture above is actually Carl Yagro's baby, great job Carl!

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)
The odds of signing Pietrangelo are the same as the odds of trading for OEL.
I think Tanev gets a day to decide if he wants I guess about 4.0m on a short term deal from the Canucks or he wants to take whatever other offers he has received. If he takes the Canucks offer, I predict the Canucks will sign one more forward for around 1.0m. They’ll try for players like Perry, Caligula or Duclair, and see if they can get a cheap deal on someone who wants to pad their stats on a high scoring team for one season. If Tanev doesn’t accept, they might try Barrie with the same deal. Then maybe if they get no takers they could circle back to offer the larger contract to a forward like Toffoli and offer him the 4.0m and a defenceman for around 1.0m, perhaps Stecher if he isn’t getting better offers.
