Well, after the U-18 tourney, I think projections will be altering.
Cozens will not be around at 9 or 10. Try 4. yikes.
Cozens, Krebs and Newhook all looking pretty good. Ole Blob Bees Knees may know a thing or two - the lottery zone is looking pretty deep.
The taller defenceman - Broberg and Harley are showing well in the tourney. They look to be good mid first round selections but probably not enough to crack the forward heavy top 10
Are there Ryan Merekly/Ho Sang/McCann like attitude problems with Newhook? Is that why he fell out of love with the scouts? I’ve seen some hints towards that

Its because Hughes Juolevi and him are the only promising defensive prospects this organization has had in 14+ years (and that one drove himself into a kenworth grill).
Gillis only drafting 2 defenceman (Sauve and Connauton) in rounds 1, 2 and 3 (where the odds of a prospect making it are greater) in over 6 drafts might explain that shit show.
In 5 drafts in the top 3 rounds Benning has drafted

Absolutely Carlyee. Always BPA. Then again if you are a waterhead with aspergers .......
Apparently Glass and or Vilardi were the BPA’s at 5 in 2017
Not on most of the lists. MANY lists had Pettersson ahead of both of those guys. I doubt you’d bother to look into it though. Kinda like when you were told Karlsson was rated late first round in 08. You weren’t interested because it didn’t fit your narrative

Tryamkin won’t be coming back
Brisebois might be a bottom pairing guy
Olaf hasn’t been good enough to crack the leagues thinnest D in three straight camps
Hughes looked good in his five games.
Woo has shown promise but dropped on your re draft and wasn’t good enough to represent his country at the WJC

Gillis only drafted TWO defenceman (Sauve and Connauton) in the first 3 rounds of 6 drafts!!!
Benning has drafted 5 in the first 3 rounds of 5 drafts!!! What is it that you always say? The more the better? Increases the odds of one making it?
Benning has also drafted 3 goalies in 5 drafts (Demko, DiPietro, Thiessen). Gillis only drafted 1 - Cannata, in 6 drafts.
The way Benning drafts vs the way Gillis drafts increases our chances of landing a fish in EVERY position!
Yet Gillis is an analytics genius!

Imagine if he’d actually get it through his thick skull to hoard picks - they’d be a lot further ahead and have some actual decent prospects in Utica
I was just following up on UDL’s 14 years of no quality D prospects. Helping explain why that may be....Connauton and Sauve only in the first 3 rounds of 6 drafts, just awful. But hey the guy before Gillis drafted Edler and Bourdon! The Gillis years otherwise known as ‘the missing link’

Podkozlin might fall worst than Zadina last year. To the point of falling out of the top 10. A lot of risers - Caulfield, Newhook, Krebs, Boldy. Plus the commonly mid round ranked group of D-men are all showing well at the U-18 - Broberg, Soderstrom, Harley and York.
The guaranteed Top 10 seem to be
Hughes
Kakko
Turcotte
Byram
Boldy
Dach
Cozens
Zegras
The group the Canucks look to be picking from:
Krebs
Newhook
Caufield
Soderstrom
Broberg
Harley
York
Podkozlin

So for fun looking at it's last 5 mock drafts from 9th overall to 18th overall, they did a good job of saying Barzal at #10, Chychrun, Keller, Boqvist & the Canucks franchise changing moment "reached" for Petey at #5 where he was supposed to be ranked around #9.
Saying that I think we see who might fall, my order of preference to take at #10:
1) Zegras
2) Boldy
3) Caufield.
To me those should be BPA at 10th overall, I can't see a situation where one of those are not available, if so - one higher ranked player must have dropped.
Can the Canucks just win a Cup within the next 5 years.
I believe Boldy is going well before 10. Buyer beware regarding Caulfield - a boom bust prospect, can’t afford a bust. Zegras could be available but I’m not sure about Zegras. I really like Krebs.

Yup, I think the Canucks will get one of Zegras, Boldy or Krebs - Podkolzin we'd be really truly lucky if he fell to us, Caufield is risky, but his shot is of NHL sniper quality, can't teach that god given talent, I think a team could reach for him in the top 9 or some other team could take the risk for him, maybe the Wild, Philly already has Konecy(sp).

His size IS risky but the little dude is hard to ignore. Not saying we should, cause I'm not decided yet but could it become simply BPA?

Konecny is 5 ft 10 and plays hard so he isn’t a typical elf. Caufield is a dynamic little player but so was Jordan Schroeder. But he’s 5 ft 6. We already have a couple 165 pounders. Couple other razor thin softies in Sutter and Loui. Stecher is not very big. Motte is a shrimp. Spooner is extremely soft and weak.
No love for Alex Newhook? On my limited viewings of the under 18, he has looked like one of the best and also fastest kids out there.
No to the Russian.
