You wanted Hague over Lind. You can’t stop talking about that
I’m starting low when kicking Dumba’s tires. Apparently the Wild are going to be sellers at the Deadline and Dumbas name is popping up along with Zuckers. He carries a big price tag with 3 years left after this, don’t think he’s an easy trade for the Wild. They will have to take money/contract back.
And lo and behold Hague is in the NHL playing decent hockey on a good team.
And like Woo wasn’t selected to the WJC’s, which according to Hague. Means nothing. But it means something to ole Doyle
Woo would need to make the NHL as a regular next year to be on the same trajectory as Hague.
Apparently the Knights are in the hunt for a D-man or two. Dumba keeps getting mentioned as going there. The Knights D is there weakness. When they acquire a D or 2, ole Hague will lose out.

Knights never should have let Luca Sbisa walk

So legit question for the experts on here...
Are the canucks buyers if we sit where we are now (in the top 3 in the pacific) at the deadline? Can we be buyers even?

Fuck no. Maybe some defensive depth for a meagre prospect and a late pick. Otherwise stand down and let the kids play. Maybe dangle Tryamkin out there if you feel he won’t play here.

I'd say it depends on how Ferlands recovery looks. I think they need more toughness in the middle 6.
I like ZMac but obviously the coach doesnt so unless we want to see teams take it into the alley with great success then i would say thats where we make a move

I think they should be happy with their depth right now. If they get into injury troubles they have players in Utica that can fill in. They probably want to look at Juolevi and Rafferty at some point; Mikey is a decent backup if one of the goalies go down; and they have forwards like MacEwen, Lind, Bailey and Baertschi as well as possibly Leivo and Ferland at some point. They might make a minor move like flip Schaller and a late pick for a different pending UFA that gives better forward depth, but I don’t expect anything major. Maybe Benning will move out Baertschi’s contract if the opportunity comes up and it doesn’t cost too much. But we shouldn’t be surprised if Benning stands pat and just sees what this team can do as is.

Ferland hasn’t had an impact on the team all year. Anything you get from him is like found money. I wouldn’t count on him adding much in the physicality end of things either. I’d love to be wrong. I applauded Elmer on this signing and thought it was a good gamble. He’s had two concussions on innocent plays. He has a young family. He’s got a lot to think about after 4 concussions.
I think MacEwan could have been spotted in to at least give the guy some game reps and to get Tim Schaller the fuck out of the lineup . What an upgrade Sutter was over Schaller. Timmy had a decent start to the season but if they ever get fully healthy he should be in Utica.
They absolutely could use more toughness.

I’m hoping Benning doesn’t sell any futures for rentals, but something tells me he will

That doesn't sound like something a 'genius' would do. I would hope / expect that that if we're playoff bound, it's to get the kids some post season experience to build on and not a major Cup run.

(Ferland has) had two concussions on innocent plays.
One concussion, remember?
He's good to go, just wanted a little extra time with the family over the course of the addition.
He'll be back after the break and playing like a man possessed.

I thought it was two. The last one he got when he threw a hit. The other one from the pillow punch that crazed his face in the fight with Clifford

Last exit was because he felt he was maybe still experiencing "symptoms" from that only concussion this season.

You think the pressure from ownership on Jim is huge to not only make the playoffs but get to at least the second round.
That's the something isn't it...
That certainly wouldn't surprise me. We don't pay all that much attention to it but Aqua man has been rabid on twitter.
A man possessed.

This. If they get there and get a taste and get six or seven games, that’s great. Anything more is gravy. Fans like the Chef and Gomer are too impatient and want that instant gratification. Stay the course.
