2025 1st overall pick, Matthew Schaefer, a CANADIAN, just scored his 20th goal of the season.
An 18yo defenceman.
Did I mention his nationality?

Should have been on the Olympic team that one.

A Bedard toe-drag wrister might have brought Hellebyuck back to the Winnipeg version.

Detroit places Dman Gustafsson on waivers. Wonder if that means they have picked up another Dman from somewhere?

Conner Murphy to Edmonton for a 2nd (2028) - 50% of his $4.4 million salary retained.
A comparable to Myers?

Michael McCarren to Nashville for a 2028 2nd round pick - surely Kane could get at least that?

McCarrens under the hood stats are very good.
Huge, hits a lot, physical, very good defensively, solid FO guy with a very positive defensive goals above replacement ratio.
At 900K.
A very solid addition as a 3rd or 4th line C for a team anticipating a long playoff run and having Cup desires.
Kane is obviously not a centre and has none of the rest of that at a much higher salary.
More tidy work by a real GM.

Sound's like Weeger is going to Utah. Not sure what the return is.

I wish, but no. Sound's like Olli Maatta is part of the deal. Flames are weaponizing their cap space. I'm sure there has to be some prospect or draft pick as part of the deal - I guess we'll see once it goes through. Waiting for Weeger's approval (he has a no trade clause listing a number of teams)

3 second round picks all in the same draft.
The Rangers' pick will likely be 33-38 and Ottawa's (who I think falters down the stretch) will probably be 40-47. Utah's pick likely is 49-55.
Those picks could easily be used to acquire another pick in the 1st round.

3 2nds, a prospect who seems to be breaking out and a so-so D man. That's a lot of draft capital. I didn't think he would command a 1st. As for Kadri and Coleman - there may be a 1st involved somewhere, but I'm not getting my hopes up. It's more important to gut the team and finish as close to the bottom of the league as possible. That high first round draft pick is worth more than anything they are going to get in trades.
